The Victoria has a prime location right on the Danube with wonderful views across the river to the Parliament, Chain Bridge and Gresham Palace. A number of good cheap restaurants located only minutes away. An easy walk to the funicular station to Castle Hill or if you're fit enough up the hill to St Matthius'. Also a relatively easy stroll across the Chain Bridge into the heart of Pest. The rooms are spacious and clean although the bathrooms are a bit outdated, however these will be renovated early in 2012. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: All rooms face the river with large windows for sweeping views across Pest.

I am remiss in writing this as my stay was in October. My excuse is that I do not write reviews. However, Hotel Victoria deserves an exception. My perfect experience began, and ended, with Gabriella at the front desk. She seemed to always be there (though by now she is likely managing a five-star property in Paris). Gabriella was simply top-drawer in every way.
I actually checked out the hotel for the view and from Trip Advisor and other websites I had developed high expectations. They were exceeded. Astonishing simply.
As further icing on this delicious cake I had booked the Marriott with cancellation possible until 6 p.m. After stopping at Victoria, I cancelled Marriott and saved over 100 Euros a night, plus parking, plus a fine breakfast.
Be sure to use the bar and sample the extraordinary Palinka.

Room Tip: End units have windows that open.

Overall, this hotel is worth the price you pay. The location is a convenient walk to Castle Hill (15min) and has an amazing view of the parliament building on the Pest side. The breakfast is ample and they make eggs to order. The rooms were rather dated but from what i hear, they are in the process of renovating. About a 15min walk to the Kiraly Bath. Overall satisfied.

Best reasons to stay here:
1- best riverfront views of both Parliament & Chain Bridge, especially at night
2- Great staff, always helpful
3- Less than €100 per night at least in off-season, great included breakfast, whoever thought it was inadequate was mis-informed, in addition to the buffet spread, the kitchen will cook to-order extras
4- Easy walking distance to red line metro, then two stops to Deak Square in city center, buy Budapest card from hotel desk
5- Easy walking distance to Castle Hill funicular or bus stop to get up to the castle. Easy walk to Chain Bridge and a number of good restaurants close by, and a great Belgian Pub right next door too!

We cannnot speak highly of the Hotel Victoria, Budapest.
Having stayed there for four nights we greatly enjoyed our stay.
The rooms are spacious with fantastic views of the Parliament building and the river Danube and the king size beds are so comfortable.
The staff are friendly, courteous and nothing is too much trouble.
Breakfast is varied and would suit any palate.
Well positioned with the castle behind and shops and other attractions just minutes away over the nearest bridge.
Brilliant stay and would highly recommend at the price.
