The Victoria looks nothing from the outside, the reception area is quite plain - but that's where any suggestion of mediocrity stops. Our three bedded room was top notch - spacious, comfy beds, that fantastic view of the Danube through huge picture windows and lots of gizmos like the lighting behind the wall mounted TV and the motion-sensor green light in the bathroom. Oh - and the air conditioning, making it a welcome oasis in outside temperatures of 35 degrees. The reception and breakfast staff were extremely pleasant and helpful - I felt like a person rather than a number which is not common in big city hotels in my experience. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice on the buffet (loved the cherries!) and various freshly cooked hot items available. The location is very close to the funicular up to the castle district and the chain bridge and there are plenty of restaurants a short walk away. I wouldn't stay anywhere else if I went to Budapest again (which is quite possible - a lovely city).
