It was amazing seeing the museum of terror however we had to wait in a massive queue.. Took is 40 minutes to wait, once we got to the till we got told we only had 40 minutes till the closing and had to look around very quickly! I recommend going early in the morning.

Why this is rated this high on tripadvisor, I truly don't understand.
Personally, I don't think the exibition honours the dead nor those left behind.

When we arrived we were met by an extremely rude staff, and when we entered the museum we found that 2/3rds of the exibition consists of flatscreens with running video, which displays what you could just as easily have found on YouTube. Also, since these videos are often quite loud, it is waste of money to buy the audioguide headset experience, as you can't hear it properly anyhow. The "preserved" basement consist of empty rooms, which looks like any other old basement.

My recommendation: Save you money on this one, and visit a real museum instead.

If you dont speak/read Hungarian, don't bother. Also, if you are familiar with WW1/2 history, don't go. If you want to witness Hungarians feel bad about siding with Germany during WW2? Then this is the place for you.

On a personal note, I am a touch claustrophobic. This place made me panicky and uncomfortable the whole time. Will advise people to avoid.

A museum that highlights the nazi and soviet occupation of Hungary. Very informative. The guided tour is extra 1500 forint but worth every bit of it. You get a tablet with additional information on items in the rooms. If you really can't afford it there is information in each room that you can take for free. Discounts for students and young person available also!

We queued for approximately 45 minutes at opening time but there is an interactive display part way through the line. Also directly outside of the entrance is a piece of the Berlin Wall, the Iron Curtain, and wall of heroes. Be prepared to be asked to stow your items, only the smallest purses were allowed through and no photography. Plenty of reading material so keep an eye out for the print outs upon entering new sections and/or skip the audio guide. There are several videos playing throughout the exhibits that can get difficult to watch as people move through. There is one elevator for the main floors that is small so if you’re able take the stairs. The church exhibit marks the end of the upper floors exhibit. After this, there was a queue for an elevator that takes four minutes for each trip down to the basement level. We did not want to wait in line so we took the stairs which unfortunately are all the way back through the exhibit. Overall worth the visit, just a few things that could be more streamlined and altered for ease of access.
