Eger is a nice small town, the wine region around the town is rapidly developing. We had a thought to check how it is today. We chose Eger & Park Hotel. The hotel has an eclectic style, mix of baroque and a kind of 80’s inspired part, made from concrete. The location of the hotel is really favourable, easy to access, car parking is not a problem. Behind the hotel you can walk into the Ersek Park, which is wonderful. In walking distance, across the park you can reach a nice thermal bath too. We stayed two nights here and that was far enough. Our small room was in the new wing, had approx 20 square metres space filled with a double bed, a tiny and really uncomfortable bathroom and simply no space to feel relaxed or comfortable.
We had a concrete terrace with a terrific view on the Ersek Park. The corridor in the evening with hidden led lights gave a strange feeling in the evenings, the lifts look like old Russian masterpieces. The reception area, the bar area are all outdated and that library imitation with worn old books does not fit this place at all. While the computer station is hidden at the lifts. The restaurant where the breakfast and the dinner was served had several parts. The main one, especially during the evening lacks the ambience, the lights are awful, crystal chandeliers with neon.
Here, the food served in the morning and the evening were prepared for the mass. Very low profile catering, many canned and frozen ingredients prepared and served with really limited fantasy.
The bar closes at 22.00, guests can enjoy a good selection of local wines and this is a positive comment. The espresso I had was burnt and dull. The decoration of the hotel is eclectic and awkward, in the room we had bare walls, on the corridors at certain areas you can find pictures, the flower compositions in the lobby are brilliant. The wellness facilities are quite nice and well managed. That I need to point out, has still some good future potentials. With better presented services, realistic tariff that could offer even more. The staff here and in the hotel is really friendly, although they have a very limited knowledge about the history or of the worth to visit places of Eger. It is only matter of training and eduction. This well located hotel, in the middle of the wine region with a bit of more creativity and attention to details for entertainment opportunities could be a far better experience for guests.
I suggest the management stay, sleep and eat in their hotel for some nights to get good ideas for a quick and urgent upgrade.

A very attractive and well appointed room, if a touch small. Bathrobes included to use the mineral baths. The breakfast was huge and attractive. It was close to the town square and the castle. Easily walkable. The staff spoke English.

The hotel somehow fits really well in the town of Eger. The rooms are of decent size and have all the things you need. Bathroom is a bit cramped, but I've heard that differs per room.

Breakfast is nice, with lots of different food available. Haven't tried dinner yet.

All in all a very nice place to spend a few nights when you visit the lovely town of Eger

This hotel is frequently the venue of medical congresses, therefore I am here a returning guest. This hotel is highly overestimated: extreme small rooms, noise from the neighbouring room. The kitchen is very week, simple foods, uncooked, no fantasy, no taste.

That was the second time I visited Hotel Eger and Park, but I am sure that was the last time as well. The lcation is great, close to the city centre and next to a lovely park. The food is good as always and I had no problem with the service either. We were traveling four of us with our children (10 months and 10 years old) and we took an apartmen room because to make sure we have plenty space for all of us. We got a baby cot what was fine but my older son was sleeping in a sofa bed what was absolutly unconfortable and noisy. For the extra bed we paid 8500HUF/night but actually it didn't worth a penny. When a 10 years old wakes up with backpain I think it means a lot and I feel a 4 star hotel should have more comfortable spare beds than this. It is so pitty because beside this experince our stay was fine but I think sleeping well is one of the main thing when you stay in a hotel so won't risk it again.
