The hotel's photographs make it look a luxury property - exceptionally large and well-furnished rooms, good bathrooms, impressive lobby and, of course, a great position on the river. I had a slight feeling the hotel would not be quite as good as it appeared. I was wrong.
Firstly, the photographs are entirely accurate and everything is very well-maintained. However, physical attributes are only part of the package. Anyone can build a luxury hotel - running it is a much trickier issue. This is where the hotel really scores because the staff are all charming and anxious to assist. Anything you want or any small query is answered quickly and with a smile. That is what makes a true luxury hotel.
The restaurant serves pleasant, rather than outstanding, food and has a slightly annoying tendency to over-describe dishes on the menu by naming every single ingredient, even if it is used only as a garnish. Thus "chocolate mousse with raspberries" is in fact chocolate mousse with a single raspberry on the side and one, cut in two, on the top. Similarly, a rather dull fried cat fish and potato salad sounds much more exotic with all the items of the small garnish listed. This is a very minor quibble though.
This is definitely one of the top hotels in the region and I would not hesitate to return.More
