Thus was a one night visit it went really well wArm welcome, comfortable accommmmodation and excellent breakfast. The setting is attractive conveniently situated. I look forward to a return visit to merceria da Vila when I have longer to explore the town and its attractions.

We were greeted warmly on our arrival by a delightful young woman who was keen to share with us her love for her city. She obviously has great respect for her employer and the history of this place - initially a manchester then grocery store. The rooms have been named after produce - Pimento, Green Tea, Chocolate, for example - and we scored the attic suite appropriately named White Sugar. Our hostess also loves good food, so we trusted her recommendations for lunch and agreed with her. The Mercearia is centrally located therefore a wonderful base to explore this beautiful city.

Best people touch so far, both owner and employees. Superb location. Modern, beautiful design, names of the rooms, etc. The bed far to soft, you sunk in it and the pillows gigantic, so the combination far from ideal, a shame on such a perfect place

This place has a few rooms and is atop a restaurant by the same name. We stayed here during our camino to Compostela. The hosts were very helpful and prepped a fabulous breakfast for us, including eggs, ham and cheese, fruit (even dates and figs and prunes), marmalade, fresh breads, honey, and even custard and cake! Now that's my idea of breakfast: chocolate cake! The rooms are simple but functional and quiet - quiet was important because we arrived on the night of a rock festival in the main square.
