“Well equipped villa in excellent location.”

We were two families staying together with our 4 children aged 12 to 17. Ted the owner was extremely helpful when we booked with advice on travelling (we were arriving by train from Lisbon) and information about the villa. We were met at the villa by Bob and Iris who gave us a tour, and were on hand if we needed them. This villa is in an excellent location overlooking Tavira. It is 5 minutes walk down a footpath into town from the villas back gate. This is a little tricky in high heels though, and you might want to take a torch for your return in the dark. You do have to walk over a train track, but don't be put off by that, as the trains are very infrequent and you can walk a slightly longer way round which is a better surface, and lit when dark. The villa has everything you could want and is very spacious and airy, with a large area around the pool. It is situated in a quiet residential established area with a small area of land to one side so is not overlooked. Tavira is a pretty town, with lots of restaurants without being overly touristy. It has entertainment some evenings in the square, and a few market stalls to browse. The beach can be reached via a ferry which goes from town regularly. It is a lovely clean long expanse of sand with loungers etc and restaurants. There are no water sports however. The water taxi back to town from the beach is fun and costs about 18 euros. We would highly recommend.

Hi Janet.
Glad you liked the villa and the town of Tavira. After a review like this, you'll be welcome back anytime!
Just one small point of information. Not alone are the trains relatively infrequent (about one per hour during the day and they stop at night), the station is quite close to the villa so the trains are going relatively slowly and quietly as they pass by.
Ted.

“Large and comfortable villa + pool in an excellent location.”

We've just come back from a fantastic week at this villa with an extended family group (from teenagers to seniors). The villa is about 30 mins drive from Faro (avoiding the toll roads), we did hire a car, but can easily see that we could have done without.

We all had a great time, the villa has the most wonderful views from the rear of the property, and it's a quick and painless walk (even for teenagers!) into the town centre. The villa was immaculately clean and we were well looked after by the lovely couple who care for the villa.

The pool is large (quite deep), with a big surrounding patio area and safety fence (it would have been relaxing and safe when our children were younger). There is always somewhere sunny or shady to sit around the property depending on what you are looking for. The kitchen is so well equipped that I almost felt guilty about not cooking more often, or more extravagantly....! Happily, I shrugged off the guilt and we ate out in many lovely places in Tavira and the surrounding towns, with friendly top rate service everywhere we tried.

Our favourite trips were.... ferry boat over to Ilha de Tavira for a day on the gorgeous sandy beach there, a visit to the Olhao market and a great lunch in the old town, a day visit to Faro when we dropped in on Fuseta (another lovely life-guarded beach on an inlet).

Ted made the booking process very easy, he is organised and easy to contact. He was right when he reassured me that there were unlikely to be mosquitos in July (not my experience anywhere else in the Med!). The photos of the villa are entirely accurate and representative. The aircon was most appreciated on a couple of occasions!

The Tavira area offers wonderful old buildings and churches, great seafood and huge markets bursting with fresh produce - so this lovely villa was the icing on the cake of a memorable family holiday.

“Fabulous family holiday villa and location”
Reviewed June 28, 2013 for a stay in June 2013

Fantastic villa accommodation that catered for all the family...we shared our holiday with our 3 year old little boy, 21 year daughter and boyfriend, and Grandparents! The villa was fully equipped and very clean. Pool towels and laundry facilities were a great help. The fridge purified water and ice on tap was a god-send in the heat!
Tavira is a beautiful unspoilt town with lovely restaurants, cafes and shops. Tavira island, reached by ferry, is a must visit. It is difficult however to exchange currency in Tavira, (we used the large hotel on the hill - but not a good rate!).
Fiesta weekend fell during our stay, the whole town was beautifully decorated, with BBQ, live music and dancing in the square till late in to the night!
