From the moment we arrived to the time we left, the experience was far beyond our expectations. The grounds and gardens were stunning, overlooking the beautiful bay and out to the gulf. The staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive at all times and genuinely wanted to make our stay special. The design and concept of our room and the lodge in general gives a relaxed, luxurious feel. A lovely selection of canapés were served each evening with local wines, and our breakfast were yummy served out on the deck. You can tell the chef puts his passion and skill into the food by the presentation and flavour combinations. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Roseyn, she was lovely and could not do enough to ensure our stay was all we could wish for.We will be returning next year and can't wait.

Room Tip: Book the suite nearest the lounge

We were a group of 4, including my brother and his wife and adult daughter who is vegetarian. From the moment we arrived we were treated like long lost friends by Roselyn and Nicholas. Eddie, the chef discussed our meals with us daily , always ensuring that My niece had her vegetarian options.
We had a wonderful relaxing time and will definitely plan on returning on another trip to the Island.

Room Tip: As there are only 4 double rooms and a suite any room would be amazing!!

Absolutely outstanding, five star accommodation with gorgeous views set on the stunning waiheke island. Could not have asked for better service or a more beautiful setting for our stay. From small touches like airport and vineyard transfers, cocktail hour by the pool, breakfast on our room terrace and arranging special spa treatments (best massage we have had in a long time); to the lovely spacious rooms, gorgeous pool and beautiful spa and sauna, it was an amazing and relaxing getaway. Highly recommended for a special trip!

Delamore Lodge was touted as a luxury lodge by our travel agent. Having stayed in several high end lodges in NZ I expected no less than spectacular. Was I ever disappointed. The overall room was very dated and lacked any discernible architectural style. The bathroom was old and not very clean. Mold in the shower floor corners and not just a bit. Countertops were old varnished wood and sticky. The makeup mirror had a dust ball on the hinge showing very little QC on the cleaning. I feel that the place is tired and in dire need of a remodel.
Service was average. We only stayed two nights. (tried to find other accommodations after seeing the place but everything was sold out except one mid level hotel in Auckland CBD. Since we were already in an average hotel, we stayed.
The canapés were served with no napkins (?). They were alright but not luxury lodge quality like others we experienced in NZ. The breakfast the first morning was good however the glass top table was dirty as well as the water glasses. They were promptly resolved but should have never been presented to a guest. The second morning breakfast was clearly the regular chef and the meal was very good.
We did not eat dinner so no comments there other than during canapés the smoke from the kitchen permeated the living room. The manager said that was because of the wind direction (?). Sounded odd to me.

The lodge location was very nice. Our view was obscured by vegetation. It is a stunning location. The weeds outside our patio were a signal of poor maintenance as well as the cushion on the wall bench hanging askew due to a failed fastener. Our experience at other lodges is that they provide at least one complimentary bottle of water a night. Delamore did not.

The lodge manager was pleasant but did not have the training or understanding of what guests would expect at a true luxury lodge. We did not meet the owner.

For the price there are better alternatives on the island. This place is well beyond it's expiration date.

Thank you for taking the time for your review.

I am sorry to hear you were disappointed with your stay and the architectural design of the lodge was not to your taste. The design is based on our traditional Maori fishhook moulding into the hillside which take advantage of the uninterrupted views of the Hauraki Gulf and outer islands.

The owner and staff are passionate about Delamore Lodge and the service of excellence we work hard to provide.

Delamore Lodge is constantly being updated each season with the most recent upgrade finishing in Oct 15. This is an on-going project and is not tired or outdated at all. However we understand that the building and décor was not to your preference.

The rooms are cleaned twice daily and immediately of hearing of your complaint upon leaving the property about mould in the bathroom the manager checked the suite and could not find any evidence of this. The view from your suite has wide sweeping views of the ocean and outer islands with native bush surround. We have a full time gardener who takes pride in working on our extensive gardens. Guest feedback has always been positive.

The wall bench hanging fastener had come loose and was rectified on your departure.

We understand that it was a concern that the owner did not meet you. The owner of Delamore Lodge lives in Auckland and it would be impossible to be here 24/7 all year to meet all of our guests. However if an appointment had of been made she would have been delighted to come to Waiheke to meet with you.
