We travelled from NJ for a family vacation with the Massachusetts branch of the family and couldn't have been more impressed. The mountains are beautiful, people were friendly and there was good variety of activities available for kids of all ages (even geezers like us). we visited Mt. Washington, as most people do and were really impressed, particularly with the fact that we encountered four seasons of weather in about 3 hours. The state parks are well kept and not very crowded. Our kids and grandkids went canoeing one day, swimming the next and finished things off with a trio to Storeyland (sp?). We rented a house in North Conway for the 5 days we visited and that worked out very well.

Gorgeous area in New Hampshire, full of scenic stops, outdoor activities, breathtaking views and adventure activities from ski to zip-lines.
We mainly did white mountain trail which is 100 mile scenic loop starting in the town of North Woodstock and finishing in Lincoln. There are numerous overlooks, hiking options and side trip options along the trail. Stop at the Visitor center in North Woodstock ( Exit 32) off I-93 and get a map and details for the drive and enjoy this beautiful area.

We've been to the White Mountains of New Hampshire many times, each time I find yet another Awe moment that I some how missed the last time we were there. We decided to go up mid foliage season, (second, third week in October, foliage was a little later this year). It's a great time to enjoy the peaceful surroundings before the skiing crowd arrives. You have to take in the beauty of Bear Notch Road, it's about 30 miles of breath taking beauty with various scenic stops to get every angle. Add the colors with the sounds of the rivers going down stream and you're at peace.

This is a gorgeous area of the US ! The mountains are simply beautiful. We drove up Mt Washington and it was spectacular. We saw a large moose in the wild and he let us observe him for about a half an hour. Don't miss the many stunning waterfalls and gorges in the area . We did a lot of hiking and swimming - perfect area for nature lovers and we will be sure to go back

The mountains were really beautiful in their Autumn red colours. And the aerial cable car by the Old Man of the Mountains was well worth a visit, taking you a further few thousand feet to a summit. The cable operators were also quite amusing during the journey upwards, and the views from the top were spectacular. Well worth a visit.

And there is even Mussolinl's sword in the ski museum at the bottom.
