“Bike to work”

Reviewed September 2, 2018 via mobile

Washington is a privileged city for biking. You can bike from the suburbs in Bethesda to downtown DC by taking the CCT which is paved and surrounded by trees. Plenty of wildlife to see if you are lucky. The trails tends to get quite busy on weekdays at the morning and afternoon commute. The views are amazing, green and full of trees at the start to the river views and the monuments at the end. Highly recommended if you like biking.

Paved off-road trail is great for walking and talking outside but on a paved trail through the Bethesda suburbs all the way into Washington DC. But walk in the right, and watch out for the bikes speeding along. .

We wanted to rent bikes but decided to walk at the last moment, and had a fantastic experience. It was a slightly hot day but the trail has shades and we never felt hot. We started from Bethesda and walked to Georgetown. It took us 2.5 Hrs to cover the distance. We also covered Bethesda to Silverspring the next day, which was equally nice except we didn't have the river view.
I think you can easily spend 3-4 hours on the trail. Carry your water and something to eat if you want to. There are benches to sit so if you want to be slow and just enjoy the trail, you can certainly do that.

A hidden gem in DC! This paved path is great for running/walking and cycling, and it has mile markers every half mile. Flush toilets at Fletcher Cove, where the free parking lots are. Running parallel for a bit is the C&O towpath for those who prefer a sand/gravel path. Great views of the city including the Washington Monument.

If you are the type that likes to explore new sites, great nature, sightseeing from unusual spots, you should enter the Capital Crescent Trail.
You can access from downtown DC to go up to North Bethesda, MD
I visited the trail last week, with great fall landscape, even had the chance to spot deer in the trail.
You feel part of the community of joggers and bikers.
