I believe this is the largest cathedral on the east coast with lots of detail. it is also the final resting place for our 28th president, Woodrow Wilson who remains the only president buried in DC.

We visited the Cathedral on a Sunday afternoon in March. It is truly a beautiful sanctuary. We were very blessed to attend the Evensong Chorale. It was wonderful. We sat in the section closest to the altar with the choir. They sang the sacred Scriptures. Their voices reverberated through the hall. We were also delighted to witness the clothing and receiving a Novice into the fellowship of the order of Nuns, which for us was a once in a lifetime opportunity. Highly recommend attending the Evensong service. There's ample parking in an underground garage. It was free when we visited.

The National Cathedral offers a wide variety of tour options. One to consider is offered by the All Hallows Guild to raise money for the gardens. It's a tour and then high tea - and high in both the type of food and where the tea is held: 7th floor of the Cathedral which is one of the highest points in Washington. Check out their website because many of the teas are already filled.

If you like impressive cathedrals than this is your place. I'd recommend doing the tour which I think is free. There is also an observation level on the top floor which is work a look. The place is really a national treasure.
