We stayed here over Labor Day weekend for 3 nights. Best thing about Sofitel DC is employees. Everyone we dealt with tried their utmost to be as helpful and accommodating as possible.
Lobby small, but beautiful and elegant. Check in a breeze. Wonderful front desk personnel.
Our first room was a superior but if natural light is important to you, avoid this category and go up to luxury. The difference was night and day (literally) and the difference in cost is not significant. Front desk kindly upgraded us after we voiced concerns about the first room.
Second room was absolutely gorgeous, stylish, sophisticated. Super comfortable bed, luxury linens, nespresso maker, large TV, gorgeous furnishings, marble bath, LANVIN toiletries, plush towels.
We had drinks and small plates at Opaline. Very nice. Again, wonderful employees! The blackberry mule was delicious, truffle fries yum, and macarons were perfection.
There is virtually no service at the hotel, no restaurant, breakfast, room service, housekeeping, valet. The housekeeping part was difficult to swallow, but we understand these are unprecedented times. I did call around to some of the other 5 stars in the area and found they have similar policies.
Employees made what was initially a disappointing experience a lovely one. We thank them all.
