The food is very good at Floriana, but at around $25 for a plate of pasta, it seems overly expensive for what you get. The pasta is made in-house, but I was a bit disappointed in the orecchiette, which did not have the little bowl shape that I am accustomed to in Italy and was slightly flaccid (it have have been slightly overcooked). The sauce and cheese were very good, though. Overall the food was very tasty, but it didn't seem as authentic as I had hoped.
I'm not a drinker, so I can't comment on the alcohol, but I did note that the drink my friend ordered cost $13, which seems pretty steep to me.
The service was absolutely top-notch -- friendly and attentive.
My basic impression is that Floriana, like so many restaurants in DC, takes advantage of the high local incomes by charging twice as much as what you would pay in Italy for a similar (but more authentic) dish. Still, if you have money to burn, you'll get a good meal and excellent service here.
