Nice, small Mexican restaurant. Very friendly and great chicken enchiladas. Chips and salsa not offered for free. Guacamole was good.

I rented an Airbnb room right down the street from Sol Mexican Cafe and this restaurant fits right in to the trendiness of the neighborhood. It's authentic food and doesn't taste anything like you'd get at Taco Bell (Thank goodness). I ate in the rustic, no frills downstairs and got a wonderful Mexicali burrito with all the trimmings for $10. Upstairs is a whole other sit-down experience and alcohol is served. Great decor and the people are so nice.
Decent happy hour - but increasingly smaller drinks. However, I am happy that the bar has updated their specials and cocktail options. Plus the tacos aren't half bad.
We got take out but hung out while waiting for the food (a bit slow, but was in no great hurry). The food exceeded my expectations for the price - nicely spiced and authentic - and portions were generous. We were only visiting DC but if I was there again I would go there for a tequila on the bar and a bit to eat.
This place is especially nice to sit out on the upper patio on warm days. They've got good drinks, good food, and friendly service. They've got various levels of margaritas - treat yourself to a Cadillac!
