Nice ambience as well. We had the tuna, very well prepared! Softshell crab salad was simple but amazing.

Had dinner at Corduroy bar after attending a nearby conference. The staff was welcoming and helpful. Had the three course dinner: very tasty tomato soup, soft shell crab, and chocolate cake. Highly recommend.

The surrounding construction is ignored in Corduroy. The spot goes overboard on highly professional over the top service. You pay for it, but dining is made easy for those who may not choke on some prices. The offerings are somewhat unique and tasty, but lacked seasoning for my taste. Granted, they will gladly take something back and serve it to order, but I am not the type to take full advantage of the fullness of the available service. The items are fresh and the spot is hyper professional.

Outstanding customer service, outstanding food. Wear something fancy. We told a corduroy joke and the waitress didn't get it, but in all honestly the joke wasn't all that good.

You know how "nice" is a general term for mostly good and fine but not great or special? That was my impression of Corduroy. After hearing so much praise over the years, I finally went. The good parts are the serene environment - easy to have a conversation which is rare these days - and there's a neutral and minimal decor with abstract art. I even liked the upstairs bar to have a drink before dinner. As for the food, I didn't try anything that was especially great or memorable, nor did my companion. I had a corn soup that was underwhelming after hearing about all the ingredients - it was "nice" but nothing special. I had to think if I wanted to finish it. Then my chicken was prepared two ways- the roasted chicken breast was moist but the "confit" treatment on the leg didn't give it a crispy skin or special texture. I enjoyed the dessert - the famous Michel Richard chocolate-hazelnut bars he called Kit Kat bars at Citronnelle. Service is attentive - so in the end, it's an unusual place: you'd want to go for a quiet dining room with tasteful decor but just "nice" food (not great). Check out the menu and to see if what I describe is worth those prices.
