Description: Just west of our nation's Capitol, Rosa Mexicano Penn Quarter location is situated in the exceptionally restored 1924 Hecht’s building across from the Verizon Center. As the first Rosa Mexicano to open outside of New York City in December 2003, this D.C. location remains true to its roots by delivering authentic Mexican cuisine in a stylish, festive atmosphere. The interior features eye-catching details that include 14-foot wraparound windows, a spacious bar and lounge area, and a tequila bar offering a wide range of premium selections and margaritas. Traditional folk crafts have also been incorporated throughout the restaurant, most notably in a dramatic series of illuminated pilasters featuring festive Mexican masks mounted on the wall. It’s a feast for the eyes as well as the tastebuds.

My picky 11 yr old daughter said "this is the best breakfast ever!" That alone was worth it. It helped that she was eating Churros French Toast (and she was right it was awesome!). We made a reservation (didn't need it this particular Saturday morning) had a great table in front of a huge window to people watch. We had Table side guacamole (delicious) and Huevos Josefina and Sopas Bendeicto all great and the corn bread and chips and salsa that came with the meal were great as well. We'd go back in a minute and you should go too!

The last visit was very disappointing and I mentioned as much in my review. Celebrating a birthday before the Wiz Cavaliers game, we arrived and were seated on time. Our servers were attentive and the guacamole was served the way we requested, the chile relleno and flautes de pollo were all good. Glad to see an improvement this time. Just wished the Wizards won.

Authentic Mexican fare, superb location, great service, intimate atmosphere, and modern aesthetics make this place a hit! Be sure to make reservations or be prepared to wait. It's worth it!

Dinner with wife. Reservations a must. Seated promptly. Waitress very friendly.

Wife had quesadilla which was so so. I had carne asada which was great. Also pomegranate margarita which paired well (not that pairing a margarita matters!)

Also had fresh guacamole but beware - they will offer it to you when you sit down and it's $14.50 , but also beware that it's very tasty and worth it!

Place was busy and noisy.

Don't come here looking for the usual. No burritos. Steak is great in the fajita. Very tender. The black beans are puréed and that is not what I like. The nacho appetizer was very good.
