Description: Just west of our nation's Capitol, Rosa Mexicano Penn Quarter location is situated in the exceptionally restored 1924 Hecht’s building across from the Verizon Center. As the first Rosa Mexicano to open outside of New York City in December 2003, this D.C. location remains true to its roots by delivering authentic Mexican cuisine in a stylish, festive atmosphere. The interior features eye-catching details that include 14-foot wraparound windows, a spacious bar and lounge area, and a tequila bar offering a wide range of premium selections and margaritas. Traditional folk crafts have also been incorporated throughout the restaurant, most notably in a dramatic series of illuminated pilasters featuring festive Mexican masks mounted on the wall. It’s a feast for the eyes as well as the tastebuds.

My hotel suggested this place, it was packed at 8pm on a Monday which was a good sign...I only started eating guacamole a few years ago but this was the best Ive had by far, medium spice was perfect for us. The skirt steak was also delicious but it came out very quickly and would have liked more time to enjoy my drink and apps. Hostess and server were very helpful..will go back when in DC

Had the happy hour menu on a busy night. Food was fresh and tasty. Service was nice and courteous. Try the guacamole...you won’t be disappointed.

The restaurant has gone downhill since I use to frequent it for lunch. Takes customers for granted as it has become a spot for tourists which will most likely not come back. The food has also gone downhill. For dinner, ours was cold, and one of the meals was supposed come sizzling on an iron skillet. Cheese had burned and solidified attached to the skillet. Guacamole is fine, prepared close to you, but you cannot interact with the preparer to tailor it to your taste. You have to tell the waiter beforehand and your only option is to specify the level of spiciness. The margaritas are supposed to be prepared on the spot and the menu supposedly allows you to choose the tequila. But no, it is all pre-prepared and you take what it is. Quality of the tequila per bottle? I would assume less than the price of the margarita. This is the last time we go.

I'm not an expert on Mexican food but I know what I like. This was superb.
The guacamole and tortillas is superb, a meal in its own right. Four if us had different dishes and all were excellent. I had the Arrachero and the beef was beautifully cooked and plentiful. Other food ordered was the Tinga de Res, Camarones, and the Empanados, all washed down with Mexican beer. All were superb. Highly recommended. Service was efficient and friendly. This is a very busy restaurant for good reason. I recommend booking in advance.
