“quite spot tucked away”

George Mason Memorial
Reviewed September 19, 2017

We discovered this memorial on our way to another one. It looked runned down and forgotten to be honest. However nice quite place to rest and have a quick bite to eat and rest. The water was not running and was drained the grass was unearthed and did not look kept compared to the other monuments.

Visited on 7/10/2017 (Monday): Before heading to the Jefferson Memorial from the FDR Memorial we stopped by the George Mason Memorial and was somewhat disappointed. It's a nice, quiet and deserted Memorial that has seen better days. Besides the small statue sitting on a stone bench, the inscriptions were unreadable due to low upkeep and there's nothing else in this large area. If you have time you can stop by here next to the Jefferson Memorial, otherwise it's something to skip if you're tight on time.

The defender of liberty is just near the Jefferson Memorial.

It's a free pit stop.

Parking is the same as Jefferson. Their are some walking trails from parking you can take for shortcuts.

Well worth finding this hidden gem near the Jefferson Memorial off the Tidal Basin. Just a short distance past the Jefferson Memorial and across the street will deliver you to this important historical figures monument.

This monument is located near the Tidal Basin and the Jefferson Memorial. The monument and the nice engravings nearby are well worth taking a few minutes to read and reflect upon. Benches to sit on are near.

A hole in the ground in the area may be designed for a fountain, but if so, the fountain or water feature was not operational when I was there.

I highly recommend taking a few minutes to stop by this monument when visiting the nearby Jefferson Memorial.
