“Beautiful property and fantastic hostess”

Top of the Rock Lodge is on a quiet street with an incredible view of Cook Inlet. On a clear day, you see the mountains, and on a cloudy day, the Inlet looks like the ocean. There were moose just on the Main Street (Sterling Hwy) and Eagles that perched in the trees above. The wonderful hostess, Kathy Toms, also has two fab cats named Sockeye and Sarah. If you like cats, they will be your best friends. If not, you'll never know they are around. The Lodge is located in the perfect location for fishing in Ninilchik and sightseeing in Homer. The Anchor Point town also has some great places to shop and eat, along with a gas station that had more reasonable prices than Homer.

Upon arriving, you will find a well-appointed home with two floors: Kathy lives in the top floor, and the entire lower level is dedicated to guests. There are three rooms with en suite bath, excellent mattresses, and great sheets and blankets. Internet access was in all areas and worked perfectly. The rooms were very clean and spacious (the big room and the view room). The center room was large enough for a couple, but may be tight for three. There is a TV area with loads of DVD's, a dining room and a kitchen that had everything you need except the food. As this is a lodge and not a bed and breakfast, the kitchen offered everything for dining do-it-yourselfers.

As we often skip the chain hotels and opt for a local option, finding Kathy's Lodge was a stroke of luck. The room was comfortable and clean, the price was reasonable and affordable, the facilities were well-kept and well-situated for sightseeing, and mostly, the hostess is a great representative for what is good about Alaska. You won't be disappointed and you'll be thankful you weren't at the Best Western!

I cannot say enough about this beautiful lodge. The bang for your buck is just great. The view of the bay is outstanding. The eagles that perch on the property offer great pics. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The whole place is very inviting. Our second day it rained and we were perfectly content sitting in the lodge and relaxing. There are two huge windows to view the eagles and rest of the wildlife.
