“Perfect hotel for a getaway!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 March 2012

My husband and I honeymooned at the Gaia and had a wonderful experience! We were in one of the cottages by the river, and it was spacious and well-maintained. The blackout curtains helped us to have a great night's sleep each night! It is in a great location, close to restaurants/shops, but still out in the countryside to provide a more rustic feel. We definitely recommend it!

Large clean rooms with a great and very helpful staff in this "green hotel " a gem in the Redding area . Easy on from Freeway , traffic noise is negligible . I hesitate to write this review as I don't want them booked up on my frequent trips to Redding !
The restaurant is an added bonus.

I have stayed here before and always enjoyed the property, but when I heard that they were going through some financial issues I was a little concerned with staying again. I was very happy to find the same level of service and room comfort was unchanged. The front desk staff are pleasant and professional and check in and out are quick and easy. The room (227) was very clean and from the window we had a river view! I love the bed and it smells so clean and fresh! We had no problems with any noise whatsoever. The bathroom has a skylight, which is nice to find- you don't have to turn a light on during the daylight hours. I will continue staying here when I am in the area. The drive to Redding is minimal and worth the comfort of staying here.

Room Tip: Room 227 had a river view in the winter.

Ok, at first glance this hotel doesn't look like much. It is fantastic. Spacious , simple but, modern rooms, and CLEAN. If you aren't familiar with this new brand, get there, they are LEED certified Hotels, which is amazing. So they use only environmentally sustainable building materials ! The grounds here are cool for the area. There is a spa facing the lower Sacramento river. And super yummy Woodside grill. Serving fresh ,organic, and as local as possible food. If you are headed to Redding, stay here! It is only 10 minutes up the road. This hotel is only 5 minutes from the airport! There are two ponds with swans and fountains in the middle of the three buildings, I love the sound of water at night . Also a pool and jacuzzi.

Room Tip: Get rooms near the river or nearer to the fountains, and all of the lower rooms have patios with lou...

The rooms are large and the beds and linens very comfortable. We have stayed on 2 occasions and found it to be very clean. The ambiance is
somewhat cold as the decor is minimalist and the lighting florescent.
Be sure to ask which exit to take off of I-5 or you may be searching as there
is no signage that we could see. Our other complaint was lack of staff in the restaurant, the Woodside Grill, but it may be separately operated. The food there was good; just no service.
Overall, a good value.

Room Tip: no real noise issue

Hotel is fairly nice for a nights stay at a reasonable price. The original developer was a European company, the hotel shows their influence, and the hotel is touted as being "green". The hotel has changed hands (I think several times) and money for maintenance and improvements has obviously been tight. We have stayed there several times on trips between the California Bay area and Seattle. The wifi never has been working, there have been cleanliness issues, etc. The staff has blamed the problems on lack of resources from the owners (I think a group of investors in San Francisco). The restaurant is highly variable--sometimes good and sometimes not, but seems to be frequented by locals. It is close to the freeway but quiet and in a nice setting. It is the best deal we have found in the general area, but would not like to be there for more than one night.

Room Tip: I wouldn't pay extra for a room's location.

Hotel staff unwilling to do anything about noisy guests in room above. Therefore, maybe got 2 hours sleep the entire night. This hotel is a hit and miss as to whether you will get the nights rest you pay for. Beware. Beware. Freeway noise also a factor as it is right next to the freeway.

Room Tip: Do not stay on the ground floor rooms for fear of noisy guests above you. Once you check in to this...
