Clean, new, perfect stay

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jul 6, 2021via mobile
My team and I stayed here for a small film shoot in the area, and we were treated very well by the staff and desk. They bent over backwards to our annoying requests, opened more rooms, worked with us on availability, and were just generally lovely and accommodating. A very special thank you to Desiree and her staff, who also had a small wedding in at the same time. There’s a really lovely outdoor area where they took great wedding pictures, probably 50 guests.
I very much enjoy not having housekeeping service every day, since I was using the room all day, but you can request they clean your room if you’re gone in the middle of the day.
The breakfast was free and COVID protocol safe, and they don’t make you wear a mask if you’re vaccinated. I usually wear one for other people who can’t get vaccinated, but there’s enough space for social distancing options if you forget.

The hotel is fairly new, and the room was clean when we checked in. They offer breakfast in the morning. The pool is a salt water pool, as is the hot tub.

On the downside, we stayed 2 nights and they didn’t clean our room the 2nd day when we were out of the room. We called down to the front desk, and were told that the check in person should have told us that guests need to request maid service. (Oddly enough, the person that told us this WAS the guy that checked us in). They promptly brought us some towels when requested. The water pressure in the room was terrible. We paid over $200 per night for the room, so it could have been better.

Our 2 night reservation needed to start a day early, and luckily we were able to contact the rotary direct to see if coming on early could be accommodated. The associate at the desk just before midnight was very pleasant and messaged me after receiving our add-on reservation that he made the notations I requested to our account. My husband has Parkinson’s disease and any accommodations that one can make to make things easier on us are always very much appreciated. I am terrible about catching names (often there are also no name tags to reference) :( as I would like to compliment all this hotel’s front desk staff by name! Upon arrival at 130am the staff had changed so I didn’t get to compliment the young man that took our phone call earlier. The new staff includes a new trainee and a more veteran mentor. Both were incredibly welcoming and helpful! The rooms are clean, well appointed and comfortable. In the summer, it’s incredibly hot in Auburn. The best amenity is the covered parking garage and that the elevator goes right from the guest rooms to the garage. While it was barely used, it’s a real bonus not to have to fight for space at the main entrance. Friends who came up for a gold tournament our club was hosting stayed across the freeway at a BW motel. We definitely feel we scored having chosen this Marriott property! We’ll be back next year for our tournament’

I do not recommend staying at this hotel. Terrible customer service. Stayed here in April on the way to Yosemite. Friend is a disabled veteran and travels with small service dog. This was explained upon check in. He even showed his license indicating that he is disabled veteran. Next AM I was checking out and an extremely rude employee wearing yoga clothes without a name badge yelled at me because she thought I had the dog outside earlier which I didn’t and she was going to charge for the dog because they are a no pet hotel. I explained that the hotel approved it but she had the attitude that the service dog was SNUCK in. She wanted to know who approved this because they were going to be fired. Desiree called me a liar. My friend came in from packing the car and told her he doesn’t have a pet he has a certified service dog. Now people are behind me listening to all of this and they are getting their grab and go bags. It was embarrassing for my friend. I asked her for her name but she refused to give it to me. When I pressed for the name she yelled she was calling the police. I asked another employee and was told her name was Desiree. Desiree was a disaster and I read another trip Advisor comment about her. I would never stay at this hotel again. I called when I got home from our road trip and left a message for the Manager but she didn’t call back so I called again and the manager, Kim, said she was briefed on this and we has a support dog not service dog. She claimed we told them that we had a support dog which isn’t true. Kim had no idea what she was doing. She didn’t apologize and she supported Desiree’s handling of this mess. My friend has reached out to the Disabled Veterans on this. They should never have asked what my friends medical reason for a service dog. It is illegal. I never write these reviews but I’m so furious on how this was handled and how a disabled Veteran was treated. On the road trip home we stayed at Hilton branded hotels and had no more problems. DO NOT STAY HERE. Marriott needs to retrain staff at this location or get new employees. Neither Desiree or Kim the manager should have spoken to a hotel guest the way they did. Again AVOID THIS HOTEL they have no respect for veterans

Recently we hosted a reception and reserved several rooms for the event. Rooms were very comfortable and clean. Beds were very nice. View was great. Pool and fire pit were great amenities to enjoy outside! We travel a lot and experienced some of the best customer service during our stay. Staff went above and beyond to accommodate our needs and make the stay fun! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Regret staying here during a road trip. This place is more like a Motel 6 with unhygienic-looking clientele. Large group gathering of large people unmasked in the lobby during covid, preventing others from accessing area with coffee and drinks. Staff unfortunately seem outnumbered and unable to enforce standards, feel bad for them. If you enjoy crowded common areas with people who might not have bathed this is the place for you.
