As first time travelers to Catalina Island, my friend and I needed and received very kind and generous attention from the Proprietor, Kathleen and Krista the Hostess. The Inn is charming, quiet and convenient. The hot breakfast was excellent. We stayed for two nights and enjoyed the wine and cheese hour which gave us a chance to meet and mingle with the other guests. Highly recommend this place.

This was our first trip to Catalina Island. Avalon is a fun, touristy town of about 3,000 residents. We spent three nights at the Old Turner Inn, a bed and breakfast about two blocks from the main street/waterfront and about a 15 minute walk from the boat dock. The house really is old. Had a lovely room (the King Suite) with a very comfortable bed, small bathroom and a sun room (that really gets the sun, actually too much) that can be used as a sitting room or single room with a day bed. Glass doors separate the bedroom from sitting room. The King Suite and Queen Suite are the only rooms with air conditioning, which is located in the sun room section of the suites. The bedroom had a huge ceiling fan and two other fans that we did use, actually sitting one up in the sun room to bring the cooler air from the air conditioning unit into the bedroom. Bedroom also has a fireplace. One bedroom is downstairs, the other four upstairs. There is no elevator. All the rooms are nice. Sitting downstairs in the living room for afternoon wine and appetizers was great for meeting other guests. Breakfast was served in the "sun room" that runs across the front of the main floor. Breakfasts were excellent. The inn keepers were extremely helpful planning anything and very friendly. We had a great stay and hope to go back and stay at the Inn again. Thank you Kathleen and everyone!

Room tip: If you have any problems handling stairs, including hauling your lugage up and down, ask to stay in the main floor bedroom. Even tho it is close to the kitchen and living room it is quiet and quite roomy.

Charming place, conveniently central but thankfully quiet. Good eats & drinks. Best of all is the hostess, Kathleen. Avalon born and bred, she knows everything about everything about the island, and is a wonderful resource. She also represents the heart at the heart of the B&B experience: welcoming, helpful -- and a good cook!
