This is a bed and breakfast located just a block from the stores and dock (if you arrive by Catalina Express), built in 1927 so it blends with the rest of the buildings on the island. Our host Kathleen was excellent and made sure our visit was a memorable one. She shared many wonderful stories about the Inn and Catalina Island history, (her father lives across the street and is 100 years old). Each morning breakfast was ready at 9am and was very, very good. Her coffee is especially good. The 5:30 pm meet and greet with wine and a delicious snack (each night was different). We rented the King Suite and thoroughly enjoyed every minute we spent in it, (the bed was very comfortable). The room has a fire place and balcony that has a day bed for kids (if you decide to bring them along). I would recommend staying there if the bed and breakfast experience is for you.

Room Tip: All the room are upstairs, (no elevator).

Roger and Kathleen were excellent hosts. They know the island well and offered many helpful suggestions. The accommodations were comfortable, and we really enjoyed meeting the other guests during the wine and appetizer hour each afternoon. Altogether, we had a very good experience at The Old Turner Inn. We look forward to returning to Catalina and The Old Turner Inn. We wholeheartedly recommend The Old Turner to anyone who seeks a great location and warm hospitality on Catalina Island.

Room Tip: We were in the king suite, which was roomy.

Kathleen rocks!! Felt like family the moment we stepped in the front door. She hooked our family up with Catalina transportation for a 2.5 hour private jeep tour of the island. Fabulous time! She had snacks in the late afternoon and that was nice. Our king room was a free upgrade and the room was comfy and quiet. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast the next morning was very good. Just a great experience. My wife said Kathleen's 99 yr old father was here and he showed pictures and told stories about his life on Catalina island. Highly recommend and if you're on the fence on where to stay, jump off and into the Old Turner Inn!!!

If you're reading this review, it's probably to answer the question, "is this a good place to stay?" Let me cut to the chase, yes, yes it is! Kathleen and her brother Roger are wonderful hosts who are eager to share their knowledge and answer any questions you may have about Avalon and Catalina.

The rooms are clean and well appointed. As a person who often does exercises on the floor, I can attest to the fact that the carpet is clean and there are no dust bunnies hiding under the bed.

The happy half hour with wine and cheese is a great time to meet the other guests and swap stories and recommendations for the next day's activities. Breakfast is right on time and you can enjoy the full breakfast cooked by your hosts, or go with lighter fare also available. The Old Turner Inn granola was a hit with everyone who tried it.

The location near the travel plaza is ideal - a couple of short blocks to the beach and big green pier, and steps away from the miniature golf course and staging area for many of the bus, hummer and jeep tours. Make no mistake, though, this is a quiet neighborhood. If you need to recharge you can sit in the sunporch and watch the world go by.

I'm not usually a B&B person but truly enjoyed the ambiance of this one. It will be my go-to place for Avalon vacations from now on. Try it. You'll enjoy it, too.

We traveled with 3 couples to Catalina and chose the Turner Inn as one couple stayed there before. The location is perfect. Just two block walk from the water/restaurants. Our host Gina was great. Her friend Karen was visiting and pitching in and between the two of them, they were so friendly, fun, enthusiastic and added much hospitality to our vacation. We stayed in the Sea Shell room upstairs and it was perfect. Nice size bath and comfy king bed. Breakfasts were great. Wine and appetizers a nice touch but I really wouldn't call them appetizers....more like cheese and crackers. They have beach chairs and towels to use, just ask. When you get to the island, go to the pier and get a "passport" book which has many discounts for various activities. Recommend the Inn and if we get back to the Island would stay there again. Thanks Gina and Karen for your warm hospitality :)
