The Gibson Inn staff will make you feel like family. Super accommodating. Loved hearing the ghost stories, when you make your reservation you can actually ask for a haunted room.. or not! We were told all the ghosts are like Casper, friendly just like the staff. Love the Inn's wandering cat. Great bar. Continental breakfast was okay. It's located within 2 blocks from pretty much everything downtown. Walked everywhere then came home and sat in comfy rocking chairs on the huge wrap around porch.

Room tip: Rooms facing away from main road are quieter

Nice place to stay, historical, and lots of antiques. Great bar for happy hour and restaurant. Friendly and helpful staff and maid service. Would definitely stay again and encourage others to do so also.

Room tip: 3rd floor worked good for us, especially corner rooms.

Beautiful historic Inn that is walking distance to everything and just a short distance to the beach at St. George Island. Loved the porches and atmosphere. the Inn was very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. We felt right at home.

I love historic buildings and have stayed in a few over the years. The Gibson Inn is a charming place and we enjoyed our stay. I read that they spent $2 million restoring it in the 80's. Either the budget was cut or nothing has been done since. Our room featured seriously warped floors and peeling paint on the ceiling. The tiny bathroom was in need of new paint and tile. Everywhere you looked in the facility, something was missing or half-done. Bit of a shame.

On the other hand, the restaurant was outstanding. Chef is a genius and service couldn't have been better. An excellent dinner.

Positives: wraparound porch with rockers, adequate room A/C in 90 degree temperatures, friendly staff.

Negatives: musty smell, need for further refurbishment, "colorful" locals at the bar after dinner, inadequate soundproofing (not necessarily expected in a 100 year old building but impossible to sleep with a party upstairs).
