Historically Ray's has not been one of my favorite places but our visit last night has changed that, it is still expensive but there is definitely more value. They have remodeled and the new (to us) décor was lighter and more up-beat.
Wine list is good, wines by the glass is good with some high-end options. Their sherry for after dinner is a nice rich sweet oloroso which is something I like and hard to find. Our server did not know about the sherry, didn't offer to find out if it was sweet or dry but that was about the only service failure.
The food was very good, both of our entres were excellent, my wife really liked her salad, and their flexibility of switching side dishes was nice - although their choices of side dishes were not very exciting. My crab cakes were delicious, fresh and flaky meat. The chocolate mousse pie was excellent.
At this point in time, I would definitely go back and try their steaks to compare with this seafood dinner.
