We got here May 2, 2017 and used the hotel as our base of operation for the week we were here. The suite looked as if it had been up dated recently. It is by no means glamorous, but it was all clean and tidy. All of the staff were helpful and friendly. They helped us locate a golf cart, which is necessary if you want to explore the island. They also helped us book a zip line and cave tour. It is located on the north side of town with great access to eating, shopping. The suite has a nice patio facing the ocean which is shaded in the afternoon. For the price and location, it was perfect for us.

Stayed: May 2017

Thanks for your TripAdvisor review! Our location is one of the reasons so many people come here for the first time (and keep returning) – right near downtown yet right on the water. It’s the perfect spot to go on adventures during the day, then come home, make a great dinner and relax for the evening. We hope we’ll see you again.

We love that you refer to us as a “hidden gem” because that’s how we feel. We’re in a perfect location to enjoy downtown San Pedro, yet also right on the ocean. And with a kitchenette in each suite, you can decide on making meals or going downtown for a bite to eat. We hope you’ll be back!

If you want a great little hotel on the beach within walking distance of the entire town, this is your spot. The porch overlooking the ocean is awesome for watching the world go by and the rooms are comfortable with a kitchen. Big enough for a family of 4, 2 teenagers....I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Second floor was the way to go

Thanks for the informative TripAdvisor review – its appreciated! You’ve done a great job of summarizing the advantage to staying at Mayan Princess for a Belize vacation. We might add that if you do come down with a family, you can use the kitchenette to make meals and save money on eating out every day. We hope you’ll be down this way again soon.

Mayan Princess is an older hotel. It is not one of the fancy resorts, but it is very comfortable and is located in the middle of all the action. The price is low to moderate. Sitting on my balcony, I can see the dive boats from 5 different dive shops. Hotel is literally on the beach - I can throw a piece of wadded tissue and hit the beach! Even being that close to the action, the rooms are very quiet. It's now 3:30 in the afternoon, and my wife has no problem taking a nap. I'm sitting on the balcony enjoying the view of the waves crashing on the reef - about a 1/3 of a mile out. Getting a nice breeze which is keeping me comfortable. The hotel does not have a restaurant, but there are good ones within a 2-5 minute walk. Rooms do come with a kitchen - fridge/freezer, 2 burner stove top, microwave, sink and plenty of counter space.
The staff here are very nice and accommodating.
I do recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: All rooms face the beach. I personally prefer the 2nd or 3rd floor.

This is a very unique and informative TripAdvisor review! In all of the reviews we’ve read, no one has ever written a “LIVE”, first person account of what its’ like to stay here. We’re happy that our hotel inspired you to do so – and we thank you for sharing with others who might be planning a trip to Belize. We hope you’ll return some day.

You look our over the ocean and the local boat docks. There is a reef a quarter of a mile out that keeps the water calm. Local stores and places to eat are within walking distances.Taxies are available if you don't want to rent a golf cart. Golf carts are the main means of transpertation on the Island. Do not go if you don't want to Scuba dive, snorkle, fish and relax. Summer is hot, but the A/C works great in the rooms. This location are Condos placed in a rental pool. All have been remodled in 2016. WiFi is available in the office.

Location has always been a key reason why guests find their way to Mayan Princess: next to downtown and right on the beach. There are so many ways to enjoy yourself on Ambergris Caye. You can be as active as you want, or you may just want to sit back and enjoy the sound of the Caribbean Sea lapping into shore. It’s great to hear you had so much fun and we hope you’ll visit us again!
