We recently had a chance to head north of San Pedro to visit Sapphire Beach Resort. It is a beautiful resort and we were pleasantly surprised. We had lunch with the new manager, Graham Verralls, at their restaurant. Graham has taken over recently as manager and you can tell he is already bringing the resort up to its true potential. It is a beautiful boat ride up and the road will be up to the resort soon! I can see staying at the resort next time we are on the island and want to get away from downtown.

We stayed at Sapphire Beach for 4 weeks in August. Our vacation was
amazing!

The cabana we rented was very well furnished. The kitchen has all that you need
to cook your own meals. There is a fresh fruit & vegetable vendor that comes by
a few times a week. His produce was better than any we found in town. The king
size bed is very comfortable. We had a view of the Sea from the futon couch and
the front porch. There is a flat screen tv with a DVD player. There are a few
DVDs in the cabana & the resort has more in the office. The best thing about all
of it was the WiFi internet. We have travelled all around the world & the
Internet at Sapphire Beach was the best we've ever had. (Including at our home
in the U.S.)

We were met at the Tropic Air terminal by Mr Awayo, Sapphire Beach taxi driver. He took us to Fido's pier to meet the boat to go to the resort. We were allowed extra time so we could pick up a few groceries before heading to the resort. Upon our arrival we were greeted with a complimentary tropical drink & a pre-paid cell phone in case of emergencies.

The staff went over & beyond to make our vacation all we wanted it to be. We love the privacy & remoteness of being 10 miles from town. They offer daily boat trips to town. (The schedule is posted outside of the office nightly) Although we only go to town when absolutely necessary. Rafael, the boat driver, was so helpful with anything we needed.

The resort is so peaceful & quiet. The pools are maintained daily. Housekeeping made sure the cabana stayed extra clean & comfy. The grounds staff worked daily on keeping the beach free of sea grass. The office staff, Deona & Jackie, made sure
that we were happy every day.

We ordered several meals, tropical drinks, & desserts from El Zafiro restaurant. Everything from piña coladas, pizza, burgers, fresh lobster, to the amazing coconut pie. James made sure that we enjoyed every meal. He even came to get us when baby turtles were found on the property so we could get pics of them.

We rented a golf cart for a week just to have the convenience of going to the neighboring resorts without walking everywhere. But that is not necessary at all.

Sapphire Beach also has kayaks, snorkel gear, & fishing gear available for guests to use. We caught several good-sized fish right from the pier. If you don't want to cook your own catch, the restaurant is happy to cook it for you.

They have plenty of sun loungers on the beach. We enjoyed relaxing our days away on the beach. Lounging, reading (the office has several books to choose from), waving at the passing boats, & watching the Pelicans dive for fish.

We saw every sunrise while we were there. There is just nothing like a Belize sunrise!

We can not wait to go back!! We are already making plans for our return to Sapphire
Beach!!

My wife and I spent a week here at Sapphire Beach Resort. We totally love it. Especially, customer service, Oscar and James, who works in the restaurant were excellent. They went beyond their jobs to ensure that we had a great time.

The two women who worked in the front office.....simply excellent, well knowledgeable about trips, events, schedules and either had connection or knew of someone who could help us concerning places or things we wanted to do around the island.

The guys and girls who keep up the property, always available to help. Management was available to assist when necessary to ensure our stay was pleasant.

If you arrive on San Padre by water taxi, just remember to call the resort for transportation to the resort.

The coconut trees, the breeze, the pool, were excellent. Without a second thought we would do this trip again, and again, and again.

Dont get me wrong, the place is beautiful, with a nice beach and loads of palmtrees around. Had it only been more accesible from San Pedro... They do pick up their guests in town and drive a boat or two a day to San Pedro, but if you want to go out you will have to pay 75 dollars to charter a boat or 150 dollars for a taxi. So a perfect place if you like the calm and tranquile life.

The prices in the restaurant are quite expensive, so bring some snacks and drinks when you leave San Pedro. We (2 grownups) ended up with spending around 140 US dollars for 24 hours. (Our breakfast was not included)

Good service, nice staff, great facilities and beautiful rooms might make it worth a visit :)

Thank you for sharing your review.

We are happy that you enjoyed our amenities we offer at the resort and the service our wonderful staff provides. We understand that Sapphire Beach Resort is not for everyone and for some guests the distance would be a problem.

Thanks for choosing Sapphire Beach Resort and that you would be among the repeated guests to welcome you again!!

I just received an email from Sapphire Beach resort and it reminded me of our unfortunate stay 12 months ago so had to write a review. The "resort" is a 30 minute boat ride from San Pedro and they change the boat times daily so you have no idea until the morning when you can escape. Take supplies with you particularly water. The bugs are out of control so make sure you take the highest level spray with you unless you want to spend your nights scratching enormous bites. The food in the 'restaurant' is very ordinary so eat in San Pedro as much as possible. Some staff are lovely but others just don't care. The place was a ghost town and the building works disgraceful. The beach is almost non existent and when I did have a swim it was amongst piles of seaweed. They need to do a LOT of work before this can be called a resort.

Thank your for taking time to share your experience at Sapphire Beach Resort.

As you mentioned “unfortunate stay 12 months ago" on your review, Sapphire Beach Resort is under new management.
For future or potential guests, it is important to know that Sapphire Beach Resort is located 10 miles North of San Pedro Town. Although we don't have a complete road, there are guests that have decide to rent golf cart to and from the resort. You can also enjoy a mere 25 minute boat ride to and from the resort and we have a complimentary daily boat run that leaves 10am and returns 3pm to the resort. There might be other runs during the day but is scheduled according to our arrival or departure guests.
Sapphire Beach Resort is locate in a sub-tropical climate you will encounter bugs, currently we are practicing eco-friendly methods to alleviate some of the bug problems.
Unfortunately the saragassum seaweed seems at least for now, is a possibility when travelling the coastal areas of Belize and the Caribbean. Our staff works very hard to keep the beach clear of saragassum. We strive to provide excellent service to our guest and with that in mind we also had made some changes in the restaurant.

Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience caused during your stay with us.

Sapphire Beach Resort is a perfect get away for someone who desire seclusion and relaxation.
