My long-term girlfriend and I traveled around Belize for a few weeks. When we arrived on Caye Caulker, we were seeking some much-needed R&R - the very same that Caye Caulker is quite famous for. When we first arrived, our accommodations were sub-par, to say the very least (the place shall remain nameless). We had seen the Caye Caulker Rentals office on Front Street, and we decided to give it a go. Fortunately, the nice folks at CCR (very accommodating and friendly) found availability at the PicoLolo, just south of town. After a lovely 3-minute bike ride south of the main drag, we arrived at Miss Judy's PicoLolo and instantly fell in love with the place.
Enclosed in a gated property with 2 entrances, PicoLolo has a small handful of apartments for rent that certainly cater towards the "chill" crowd. As Miss Judy showed us around, she told us that each apartment rental came with free bike rental for everyone staying, which we used THOROUGHLY (it's so much fun to ride on Caye Caulker). Also, Miss Judy offered to drive us anywhere we needed to go on the island - via her handy golf cart - pro bono, anytime. She had even heard we were from Seattle, so she put an espresso machine in our room with a cup full of Seattle's Best Coffee... and this was only 10 minutes after knowing us!
Our room was very clean and cute (and quiet). The kitchen area was great; the plates were clean, the cutlery was quite functional, and there was soap to clean the dishes off to keep the bugs away. The bathroom was tiled and clean, complete with hot & cold water (etc.). The A/C was perfect (and much needed during our stay, as it was the rainy and humid season). If we needed anything, Miss Judy was there to accommodate - even an early morning toilet paper run, or an emergency late night dry towel.
Next time we come to Caye Caulker, we will definitely stay with Miss Judy at PicoLolo. We cannot recommend it higher!
