Hatchet Caye Resort is a destination unlike any other we have ever seen. 7 acres with breath taking views from every spot on the island. Antonio at the Bonefish Bar will keep the drinks coming along with a constant history of the resort and it's staff. Our Chef surprised us with a varied menu with each and every meal a culinary treat! Snorkeling off the pier (day or night) or off your cabana's private beach is world class. Captain Biggs will get you out there and back in comfort and style in his boat! 7 beach cabanas keeps the resort exclusive and private. Truly a once in a lifetime experience!

Room Tip: Every Cabana has a private beach, lounge chairs and hammock. Cabana 1 is the honeymoon suite.

My husband and I loved this place. We had not been to Belize in many years and the first time stayed onshore which led to long boat rides out to the reefs to dive and snorkel. The second visit I did a small dive boat, loved it. This visit we stayed 13 miles offshore and welcomed clear waters and short rides to dive sites with wonderful sea life and reefs. The first two days I had the dive master all to myself—how often can you say that happened to you! The resort is small and intimate with a great staff. The restaurant was excellent! I loved walking out on the pier and simply slipping into some of the best snorkeling, swinging in the hammock and taking in the view off our porch. This is not a place if you want to shop, it is a place to unplug and totally relax.
Thanks to all the wonderful staff at Hatchett Caye we hope to visit again soon.

Room Tip: Cabana with ocean view is perfect!

Thank you so much for your review! We believe the close proximity to the Reef and our very low guest/guide ratio is indeed one of the things that makes Hatchet Caye such a great destination for divers, snorkelers and anglers! We are glad that you enjoyed our little paradise!

Having to wake up at 4am the day after your wedding to catch 3 planes, a car, and a boat for the honeymoon isn't exactly desirable. In our case, we lucked out and found ourselves at Hatchet Caye.
Dasha, the manager, welcomed us at the docks with thrist quenching drinks. That was followed by a quick yet informative orientation of the island resort. In the mean time, our luggage has already been delivered to our room.
After the long day of travels, we beelined to the only restaurant on the island  where we met Antonio. Like most staff on the island, he wears many hats. You will see him at breakfast, lunch, dinner, and at the bar. Any questions at all, he's the man to talk to. Pay attention when he suggests which activities are best for the day - he wants the best for you! In the rare occasion Antonio is off duty, you will be greeted by Jose's kind smile, or Morris and Juan's sincerity.
Either way, you never leave the restaurant hungry or unsatisfied. The food is above and beyond expectation.
When you've had enough sunbathing and are ready for adventure, let "Yaw-Nick" at the dive shop know. He will hook you up with fishing equipment, kayaks, paddle boards, snorkeling with some big sea animals, or take you out for the time of your life on the hobbie cat. Don't make the mistake we made and leave the hobbie cat for the last day. It's addicting!

To wind down, jump in any hammock scattered on the island - the view is amazing everywhere. Better yet, book a massage session with Charlamain. She'll work out those knots for ya at the highest point on the island where the breeze will join as well.

Special thanks to captain Jason for bringing us by boat to Hatchet Caye on day one. And to Rasta" the Masta " for expertly cutting through the choppy waters to get us back to land to catch our flight home. Lastly, thanks to all staff members we did not come in direct contact with or whose names we did not mention - we acknowledge the team effort it takes to keep this island experience one of a kind.

We were truly lucky to have stumbled across a piece of heaven such as Hatchet Caye. As if the view isnt enough, the staff is always helpful, sincere, and genuine. They certainly make you feel like family. Definitely worth returning for another visit.

We are a family of four with two teenage boys. Our four nights here couldn't have been better. The island is a intimate tropical paradise surrounded by living, unspoiled reef! By far, the highlight was our time with Eyanick, one of the dive instructors. We did our PADI open water dives with him to finish our certifications and we can't say enough about him as an instructor. He and the rest of the dive shop crew were amazingly accommodating in working with us. And to be able to complete your training while being visited by a nurse shark is just an incredible experience! We could go on and on about the diving and snorkeling...but Dasha and her whole team on the island - especially the servers and kitchen staff, did a fabulous job as well, including accommodating the vegans among us.
What are you waiting for!? The food, service, accommodations and setting are stellar.

Room Tip: all cabanas except one are duplex set-ups which work very well. All 4 of us were comfortable in one room.

We visited in August with our family of five. What can I saw other than we loved it.

A long trip out from Placencia, not helped by the boat arriving later than expected was quickly forgotten. The Island is just stunning. Gorgeous gardens, beautiful buildings, fantastic staff. It really is just a delight.

We had two sides of a small villa. Privacy for the parents is a wonderful thing. They are in excellent condition and kept spotlessly clean. You have your own deck, with a private stretch of beach. Not that it matters as the island is dotted with small private spots with hammocks and sun beds to choose from. There are only 4 lodges, plus the main house, so it just can't feel crowded.

The restaurant just couldn't be more beautiful. Open air, the one night it stormed it just made it more dramatic. Plus, the food, dear god, the food. I never met who was in the kitchen, but every meal was a delight. A mix of Belizian and European, every dish was wonderful. My absolute favourite was grilled lobster tail with a beurre blanc. Or maybe it was the jerked Grouper tacos. Hmm, perhaps the Lion Fish Gojons with fish we'd speared earlier in the day. You get the idea, its very memorable.

We were primarily out there for the diving, and Yianic did us proud. We went to a number of sites, and he managed to teach the kids to spear the lion fish. It was just wonderful. The team just made the memorable diving better.

Plus there is more you can do. Snorkle around the island, do a bit of sailing, kayak to your hearts content, or just put your feet up.

For the time you are there, it is your own slice of paradise...

Room Tip: No room is a bad room. Walk out of any one and there is the beach...
