Room was clean and spacious with ocean views through the windows or the hammock on the patio. Prettiest spot I saw in Punta Gorda. Hotel staff friendly and accommodating. Seeing that staircase in the picture makes me miss it. Very close to a couple great restaurants on the water. Easy walk to downtown PG.

Room Tip: only a few rooms, may want to book in advance

This is such a lovely little oasis in Punta Gorda town. Facing the sea, the breezes are wonderful and you can hear the waves crashing below. The gardens are beautifully and lovingly maintained. The units themselves are very well designed, tastefully decorated, large, clean and extremely comfortable. I felt completely relaxed and at home on the property. Esme is really gracious and makes delicious carrot cake and banana bread that is served with a selection of fresh fruit in the morning. I want to return to Punta Gorda just so I can stay again. Wonderful.

Well, not quite, but having it delivered at your chosen time, at your patio table is just as good. The menu? Fresh banana or carrot cake or other baked goods, fresh orange juice, and a variety of pineapple, papaya, and/or watermelon. It was a luxury for us and one that was much appreciated. And if you're off early birdwatching or hiking, just ask to have it left in your refrigerator for a latter morning snack.

We loved our second floor unit with the view of and breeze off the ocean. We lounged in the chairs, read, sipped coffee or rum drinks made ourselves, visited the farmers market and chatted with the wonderfully gracious and caring staff. There is a much appreciated air conditioner, refrigerator, toaster, microwave counter top burner, and a selection of plates, silverware and other necessities should you want to cook or warm up your own meal or snack. The bed, pillows, bathroom, and shower were nice too.

There is plenty to do here in up to 5 days. Suggestions: the farmers market with food vendors along the Front Street, kayaking at the marina (preferred at $5 US pp per hour) or you can take a guided trip elsewhere for $150 US pp; day trips to the coffee and spice farms, visits to Blue Cave and Rio Blanco National Park, and of course snorkeling or boat trips too. If you don't have a car, there are plenty of tours available. There's often music in town and they start early, 8:00 or even earlier at some locations. Ask the staff at the inn for times and locations.

May I suggest a side trip to BelCampo Lodge for a gourmet lunch? Oh my, the sliced pork BBQ on naan was exquisite and for only $11. And the coffee! It's the real thing. I must log this into TA as a restaurant (rather than just lodging) to spread the word as it's the best place around to eat. There's a guard at the gate but just tell him you're going in for the restaurant. You are also allowed to in several public areas (others are just for guests). Make a trip down to the river but don't forget that what goes down, must come back up. Fortunately for us, the landscape staff invited us to use the electric lift when we were finished. Much appreciated.

Pardon the digressions. As you can see, we are enthusiastic about our stay here and would like you to enjoy the area and accommodations as much as we did.

Blue Belize is a nice quiet guest house very near Asha's Cultural Kitchen. Good sized rooms with kitchen and sitting room as well as large patio overlooking the Bay of Honduras. Esme serves breakfast on the patio each morning at the appointed time. Laundry services are also available at reasonable charges.

We completely enjoyed our four night stay with Esme and the Blue Belize. I cannot remember the room name, but we stayed on the second floor of building on the right. It had a great view of the ocean and very nice. We were there for Christmas and Esme shared some of her special Christmas beard. I completely recommend this terrific location.

Room Tip: 2nd floor of north building. South building is two stories, but only the north has unobstructed oce...

We stayed in the Almond Suite on the top floor. Gorgeous view to the water, obstructed a bit by large palms depending on where you sit, but all you need to do is move your chair. The suite was perfect size, plenty of space to store your clothes, nice size bathroom, couch in the kitchen/living area, comfortable bed, and lots of room on the veranda. No one was in the room next to us, so the entire veranda was ours! Esme's homemade bread, fresh fruit and fresh squeezed juice delivered each morning was a real treat. Easy walk to Asha's for dinner every night. Quick walk into town for supplies. Be sure to hit the open-air market on a market day! This was the end of a 3-week trip to Belize, so we spent most of our time while here sitting on the veranda, reading and relaxing. Esme and George are warm and gracious hosts. The property is lovely. The only drawback of the room we chose is the car/truck noise from the road that runs along that side of the house, the music from multiple locations, and the dogs barking at night. Next time I would stay on the other side of the house to hopefully help block the noise. Turning on the air conditioning may block noise, too, but the nights were just too pleasant to turn it on!

I have the Sunset Suite and it was beautiful. The complimentary breakfast was delicious every morning and Esme's bread was to die for. My students and I stayed for 14 nights while working at Hillside Health International. Esme and George were there for anything that I could possibly need all I had to do was ring a bell. This location was a great place, it was more off the beaten path but close enough to town that was convenient. It was 1km away. Very close to Asha's as well!!
