We were only supposed to spend 3 nights here but extended our stay. Sooooo much to do and what a variety! Great food, awesome hikes, water activities, partying of all kinds, yoga, retreats and the views anywhere and everywhere you go are picture perfect. Plan on spending some time here if you go to Guatemala. This place should not be skipped!

An absolutely spectacular lake, with 3 very large volcanoes. What more can you ask for? You can hire a boat for super cheap to take you around the lake. They will stop where ever you want. There aren't many beaches accessible in the main town, but the boat driver will take you somewhere to swim. My mother-in-law ruined our potential swim by telling us that there are worms in the lake that will crawl up your nose and into your brain, like on the Discovery Channel. Talk about a Debbie Downer. I doubt that is true, but it freaked us out enough to not get into the water. My nephews swam twice & they are still alive.
There are 12 pueblos around the lake (named after the 12 apostles), and the boat drivers will take you to any of them.
If you are in Guatemala, don't pass up an opportunity to see this place!!!! A MUST DO!!!

One of the most majestic places I’ve been in Central America. I’d highly recommend to anyone. Take a boat ride and climb San Pedro if you make it out there. It is well worse the expense and effort, respectively.

Clean, beautiful, and peaceful. Surrounded by volcanoes, small villages, and some small (but really comfortable) resorts. Great photographic site.

My favourite destination in Guatemala. The lake is surrounded by 3 volcanoes and you can choose different towns to stay which all have its own charme and attract different kind of people.
