The building is elegant and the location on the river walk is perfect. The staff members were welcoming and friendly, especially the ladies in the remarkable gift shop - and the collection of art was both impressive and memorable.
Not to be missed!

My wife and I stopped in here on the first weekend of the month when it is free to Bank of America cardholders. Not very expensive any other time but we were staying next door for a Bridge Tournament and had a free morning. Really great museum with southern art, “war of northern aggression” pieces, landscape art and more. You can spend a nice hour here and walk away feeling cultured!

A very nice place to view art about and by the southern artist. There are many types of art, styles of art and artists. Art is grouped in small areas with a common title for the grouping.
Extremely low price to get in as well.

Most of the art is conventional. I recognized some artists from my time in Knoxville. The art was contemporary. It is not a large museum but just a nice place to visit.

Take some time to visit this hidden gem in Augusta. The quality of the various exhibits is world class and there is something for everyone--contemporary, portraits, historical portraits. Every Sunday there is a free concert at 2PM. Check with the museum to see who is playing that week. The museum is closed on Monday. There is a gift shop with quality items and thee are docent tours daily.

I've lived in the Augusta area for about 2 years now and am ashamed to say that I had no idea that this wonderful museum of art existed in our city. If it wasn't for friends who were visiting from Bulgaria (who both are artists themselves), I probably still wouldn't know it existed. How happy I am that I now know all about it!

This wonderful museum houses an excellent permanent display of local art in the form of paintings and sculptures as well as a collection that changes periodically. I was so moved by all of the collections so it's difficult for me to choose what I liked best. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, too.

When you're done browsing the art, don't miss out on their retail shop. It holds an interesting collection of its own. You can pick up books about the art as well as books by local authors.

Check out this gem. You won't be disappointed.

First museum dedicated to southern art; located in office building, there were no sculptures outside to promote the museum; there was small sign with name, but nothing to indicate a quality art museum. Hidden treasure/

We were here for the Alan Shuptrine exhibit, which was simply brilliant. We were wholly absorbed in the textures and depth he achieves using watercolor.

I think your experience will vary depending upon the rotating exhibits here. You can easily breeze in and out in 45 minutes. We spent longer because of the Shuptrine exhibit.

Follow the directions you are given when you pay your admission for how to see the museum. We found them helpful. And take advantage of the museum’s direct access to the Riverwalk.
