“Very nice”
Reviewed 29 January 2012

We stayed at the Ka'anapali Beach Club Jan. 18th - 25th, 2012. The friend we went with is a time share owner with Diamond Resorts so we got cheaper pricing if we sat through their 120 minute presentation.

The good...Everyone at the hotel was VERY friendly and nice and always willing to help out. Our suite was really nice and big. The pool is really big and nice and great beach access. The property is well manicured with several water falls, koi ponds, picnic areas with grills. Our $15.00 per day parking fee was waived :o) and they didn't even charge us the lost room key fee of $25.00 when my husband misplaced his key card. The location is really great with a little grocery store and breakfast joint (Java Jazz and Soup Nutz) within walking distance. There is lots of great shopping just a few miles down the road at Whalers Village, Cannery Mall or in Lahaina. Lastly...I was worried the time share presentation was going to be high pressure but it really wasn't to bad.

The bad...our shower did have a good amount of black mold around the bottom. Our "Scenic View accommodation" was of the road and if the wind was blowing down from the mountain you could smell the sulphur smell from the water treatment plant down the road :o( however, we really didn't spend much time in our room. The breakfast buffet was a bit overpriced at $15.00 per person for an average buffet. We only did that one day then started going to Java Jazz accross the street. It is still around $15.00 per person but worth every penny! This next compaint is petty but I wish the ping pong table was out in the open but instead it is locked in the activity center which closes at 8pm but that is just me :o)

Over all we really enjoyed staying at the Ka'anapalie Beach Club and would recommend it to others.

Stayed at the Ka'anapali Beach Club in November 2011, we had an excellent holiday. The rooms are well maintained, clean and have plenty of space. We booked a partial sea view and were not disappointed, the location of our room was excellent we woke up every morning to the sun and sea outside of our balcony. Gym within the hotel was good, and very clean, my husband and I used it several times, pools and hot tub good too, although the hot tub is a little small. The grounds are well maintained. Breakfast buffet is available at a small cost and was value for money, we used this facility at least 7 times within our two week stay. The reception and Diamond staff are great at their jobs, we booked several trips and nothing was a problem to them. I hope that we get to visit this hotel again as coming from the UK, it is a long travel but well worth it.

Very nice suite, if you have every stayed at an Embassy Suites, that is what you get. Nice pool, beach is just a few feet away from the pool. The room was clean & plenty large enough. Will stay here again.
We did stay here on a Diamond sampler package, our cost for the week was $995, no charge for parking.

Room Tip: Delux ocean view

Just spent 16 wonderful days at the Ka'anapali Beach Club. We arrived Christmas day and stayed until January 10th in a 2 bedroom unit overlooking the pool and the Ocean. We stayed on the 9th floor the first week and then moved to the 8th floor (larger balcony) the second week. We had a total of 18 guests in 5 different rooms!!! We had a great time!!! The BBQ day by the pool is an excellent deal for the kids. The movie nights by the pool were sooooo cool also. The electric skillet made meal preperation a breeze. The BBQ's downstairs need some tending to. Ruby at the front desk was wonderful!!! When others had no clue as to what was going on......she always said and did the right things to make our vacation as smooth as possible!!! Gary, the Hotel manager was awesome as well!! Thank you both for making our Christmas vacation/family reunion a great one!!! The pool is awesome. The beach there is very nice. Not many bad things to say about KBC!!! The Times grocery store across the street has just about everything one would need. I have stayed at KBC at least 10 times and I love the property!!! Have never had a bad room!!!

Room Tip: You want the "Ohana" tower with a room overlooking the pool. This will give you a ocean v...

We have been coming to Maui since 2007 and have stayed here -- the rooms are plenty big, the pool is great and it is right on a wonderful beach. We are using the time share part -- not sure if there is another way to stay here. But the location is great and so is the staff. This used to be an Embassy Suites and so the rooms do not have a full kitchen -- but there are BBQs downstairs and one can use the electic skillet in the room to cook meals if one wants to.

Free internet and washers/dryers, too.

Room Tip: Ocean view or front are great rooms -- but may be on a as-available.

I have to laugh at the reviewers who give their accomodations lousy marks because of the weather, wind, etc., all things beyond the control of the resort. It's unfortunate that the aloha never quite soaks in to some people.

In any event, my husband, son and I just returned from Maui, having stayed at the KBC for a week. Upon driving up to the huge pink monstrosity, we were somewhat concerned, but were quickly put at ease when we saw the grounds and our room. The pool area and grounds are large and well maintained. There are plenty of activities scheduled daily, both for adults and kids, and a full activity centre for keikis (kids), complete with bowling alley, board and video games, etc. On-site fitness facility, spa and mini-golf course offer something for the whole family. Our room had been recently renovated, and the bathroom was HUGE! There is also on-site (free) laundry facilities which is a life saver! The bed was comfy too! Free wired internet in the rooms and wi-fi in the lobby and pool area. There are 5 grills down by the beach, and from our room we could see them being cleaned every day. We did not eat at the restaurant so cannot comment on that (drinks were pricey but they do have happy hour). We ordered a pizza on the day of arrival from the pizza joint and it was good.

A vacation tip (and life tip for that matter) - If you treat the staff with respect, you will find that they reciprocate: we never had to purchase any additional supplies (some have mentioned having to purchase more coffee filters, etc). They also even called us to see if we needed a crib for our baby - now that's service! We simply asked our cleaner politely for what we needed and she was happy to help. Perhaps if you are the crazy lady in the gift shop having a melt-down because they didn't carry the local paper (the horror!), you might not get a great response from the staff.

If you are lucky enough to visit during the whale season (Dec-Mar), you will surely see humpbacks frolicking very close to the resort. Snorkeling is so-so, but the beach is decent, not rocky.

We have been to Maui a few times and this was the best visit so far. All in all, I would highly recommend KBC and will definitely be back ourselves.

Room Tip: Currently undergoing renovations is some areas. Be sure to ask for a recently renovated room.

I was a little concerned based on some of the reviews I saw before traveling, however it was a wonderful hotel in a wonderful location. The staff from valet to check in were very helpful and nice. The hotel looks dated but the rooms are finely appointed. I was not even in the most updated room and had no complaints. Ruby at the concierge desk was amazing. I did sign up for timeshare presentation but didn't feel pressured. I imagine this will vary salesperson to salesperson. It was worth it to get the tour discounts. Chambliss was our salesperson and she was great, no AMAZING.
(I am in sales so I understand it's her job to be nice, but she was genuine and no pressure.) my only suggestion would be to get wireless in the room as I had my IPAD. My husband had his laptop some were able to plugin. The food was good, the pool staff was great, and most of all the location and view was amazing. I visited some of the other hotels and they felt stuffy compared to this one. If you enjoy traditional stuffy hotels, this may not be for you. If you like friendly hotels with a family feel (not overrun by kids), this is the place to stay. Literally the beach is steps from the hotel.

Room Tip: Try to get an ocean view.....
