From the moment I first spoke with Jim, the owner, until we pulled out of the driveway we received the utmost care and attention. Jim goes all the way and takes care of every detail with grace and good humor. When we checked in he had already googled the location of our destination for the next day along with a map. We loved the staff quarters room and the environs of the neighborhood. I love the green B and B concept and my only suggestion to go along with this theme would be to follow through with having organic food selections available. We would definitely return for another visit--this is one of the most friendly and accomodation B and B's I have ever enjoyed. Jim and Sandy are the greatest!

We stayed here in November for my birthday. The property is beautiful and the atmosphere is quiet and inviting. The owners are very helpful, friendly and gracious , We have stayed at many B&B's over4 the years and this was one of the best. We are already planning when we can go back. I would recommend this property to anyone who values quality and has an interest and love for history and a glimpse of living in past times.

My husband and I stayed here for our 18th wedding anniversary. I was so impressed with the beauty and history of the house (built in 1903.) Era furniture and decor were beautiful. Complimentary brandy in the music room, 24 hour chocolate buffet, coffee/tea bar, free drinks from the fridge, lavender bath salts for the whirlpool tub, robes, slippers, books, games... it was more than I had imagined. The best part was breakfast served in bed with our pillows fluffed beforehand. The food was outrageously delicious and varied. Service was friendly and inviting. We will definitely stay here again!

We took a short detour from our six day Route 66 road trip so that we could stay at the Beall Mansion Bed and Breakfast. When I mentioned we'd be spending the night at a B&B that was also a mansion, my wife got excited. When I told her they have a 24/7 gourmet chocolate buffet, she nearly fainted. When she asked if we'd miss Dancing with the Stars, I said "No, they have flat screen tv's.", well she nearly cried. When, upon arriving, we were warmly greeted by the butler, we both got flush and felt like royalty. (Jim, the co-owner along with his lovely wife Sandy, plays the role of the butler quite well and seems to relish it) The home has been lovingly restored by Jim & Sandy and the antiques, decor and atmosphere within it are worth the price of admission alone. We stayed in the Servant's Quarters room (Who knew servants had it so good) & chose the continental breakfast and enjoyed it, but next time we'll have to try the gourmet breakfast in bed! After our short stay we hated to leave but the Mother Road beckoned. Well, it took us all of three days, but we just couldn't wait to go back...and so we did. This time we stayed in the spacious and lovely Veranda room and perused the wonderful jacuzzi after a long day of Mother Roading (not to mention fighting rush hour traffic in St. Louis!) Later, we got some fresh air on our own private veranda. We've stayed at some nice B&B's, including a handful in the UK, but THIS is living. Ah, but alas, ol' man time once again asked us to return to our real world back home in Indiana. But (ler), we shall return!!!

Room Tip: Higher floors are farther away from the chocolate buffet. The Beall has no resident ghosts.

What a great place. If you don't mind walking a little, the surrounding community is quaint and friendly. If you have a dog, leave it at home b/c they do not allow critters at the Beall and the area boarding facilities are horrific.

I found the owners of the Beall to be pleasant and friendly - albeit, a bit on the politically opinionated side. The featured "chocolate bar" was a dream-come-true for a chocoholic like myself and the various "little touches" were well-played.

I took my wife to the Beall Mansion for her birthday and she loved it. Jim and Sandy made us feel very welcome. They have done a wonderful job restoring this beautiful home. The decorating and all the antiques fit the home perfectly. Their attention to detail is refreshing. The online reservations were very easy and they confirmed quickly and asked questions about us and our occasion so they could meet all our needs. The room was spacious and comfy, complete with fireplace and a very comfortable bed. The chocolate buffet and complimentary beverages are a very nice touch. The breakfast and service were outstanding. If you are looking for a relaxing or romantic getaway you will be very happy with this lovely B&B.
