Stumbled out of the old Medina and noticed the cannons on the wall “guarding” the restaurant. We were interested in trying the tajine so we wandered in. The restaurant layout is beautiful with some scattered indoor and outdoor seating and traditional garden decor.
Our waiter was very friendly and service was good. When it came time for the food, we ordered mint tea, octopus salad, beef and lamb tajine. The salad was good but slightly too bland. It could have used a little more vinegar to combat the blandness. The tajine was also good but not great. The meat was tender enough but the overall flavor of the dish was lacking. There wasn’t enough in the supplementary components of the dish to complement the flavor of the meat.
Overall, the food was solid but nothing special. The worst part is that our meal for two cost over 400 MAD. That ten times more expensive than tajine at a local restaurant. It is definitely a tourist trap but if you’re prepared for that, it’s not bad.
