Of all the places i have stayed from boutique hotels to tents; this is one of the worst experience i have ever had traveling. Upon arrival; there were no rooms and the owner tried to put us up in another room behind the hotel which looks like it have not been cleaned for a decade; the ancient gate couldn't open with the key which was a blessing for us and we decided to leave to go elsewhere but they then wanted to put us into another room with already a guest in it. They were really pushy but there were so many hasslers outside this place and we were tired and exhausted finding the location of this place that we decided okay maybe we stay in that room and they will put us in another room the next day; however was surprised when he still charged us the same as now we are staying like in a dorm and sleeping on a sofa bed. The owner got really angry when i told him I'm not happy about the room condition and the price. My friend was tired and said lets just stay there as it was getting late; so we put up with it. He was trying to sell us the tours to the sahara desert every time we see him and pushy about us eating breakfast there. Being in Fes is already bad enough that we get hassled in the street so much but its really bad when we get back to our hotel and wants some peace and still get hassled by the hotel staff!!!! The room the next day also looks like one of the rooms in the attic and not clean; toilets was flooded and i literally have to put a stool over it to shower. The next day, the toilets from the second floor overflow and the whole stairs was flooded and flowing down the stairs few floors down(i have taken a photo and will share here) and there was no other way to get up or down the floors which is also dangerous if there is a fire hazard. And when we were leaving we ask if there is a bus to Merzouga; the staff at the front desk (whose photo is there standing at the front door in the photo gallery) told us there is NO BUS TO MERZOUGA and that we have to take a bus to Rissani then its A 2HOURS 4WD DRIVE FROM THERE TO MERZOUGA!!!! He was a liar as he ended saying "SEE I TOLD U GALS SHOULD HAVE TAKEN THE TOUR WITH US'!!!!! Such a unfriendly big liar and hassler!!! When we get to the bus station we asked and there are buses direct to Merzouga!!! I wouldn't understand why lonely planet will put such a place in their list of places to stay; its utterly misleading for travelers. Given free i would not even ever step into this place again!!!! My advise to all travelers to stay away from this place.

Room Tip: stay away at all cost

Beds were very noisy and one was broken. My bed was also full of someone else's hair!
The shower room was not clean and only one guaranteed hot water. On walking through the door we immediately felt pressured into agreeing to 'add ons'. We were asked to come back to the hotel if we found anything we wished to purchase in the medina so our hotel manager could take us to his friend to get us 'the best price'. We were encouraged to change our room to the more expensive option before we'd had chance to drop our bags. We were also told not to get the bus to the airport as it was unreliable (not true) and to get a taxi instead for 20 times the price. On requesting our breakfast 30 minutes earlier (08:30), we were quizzed as to why, then informed we didn't need to have it at that time so would be served it at 09:00 (more like 09:20 in reality) as on previous mornings.
Cheap yes, but we'd stayed in much better and more welcoming in Marrakech for the same price.

Room Tip: Don't go here

We stayed two nights, the place is ok, but we stayed in nicer places in Morocco. The rooms are basic, which is ok, but the towels and bed sheets were not too clean and smelt bad. The location is perfect, so to stay one or two nights to explore the Medina is fine, but don't expect any extra comfort. The breakfast was nice, staff was helpful, but seemed a bit bored. Especially compared to people in other B&Bs we stayed at in Morocco, who were realy friendly.

This beautiful hotel in riad style is located in a small street in centre of Medina, few minutes from Bab Bou Jeloud and Medersa Bou Inania. We spent there one night. The staff was very lovely and helpful. They offered us royal suite in price of regular room. They have nice terrace with beautiful view. There is high speed internet in every room.
Next time we will definitely choose this place again.

This was our first night in Fes, and first experience of a Riad. Initially it came across as a nice looking place, with a colourful courtyard and Said was very welcoming. It's in a good location, within 2 mins of the Medina and 5 from the Blue Gate. The price felt about right, but after staying in 3 different Riads in Fes, it was the most disappointing and a bit overpriced. The room was on the ground floor so right next to people chatting/having breakfast. Bed wasn't the best but ok. Bathroom wasn't very clean and hot water was an intermittent luxury!

After talking about going to the desert for camel trekking, we were introduced to Yusef (smart, slick black hair), the boss/possible owner, who talked us through a 3 day tour including: a private car tour to Mezourga, camel riding and overnight in the desert, bus to Todra Gorge and hotel stay, then bus to Marrakech. Total price 2370 dirham each, which was cheaper than we had seen online. In hindsight it was a bit too good to be true. After handing over most of the money, we felt we might have been conned but luckily we hadn't. Despite confirming (twice) the price included everything except lunch, before departing we were told we had to pay for the bus to Marrakech ourselves. The private car tour was basically a taxi ride (with another random local) for 7hrs as the driver didn't speak any English. Instead of stopping at sights, we stopped at fruit stalls and for fuel. When we did arrive, instead of going to the desert hotel to use the pool as promised, we spent the spare time being sold Berber Carpets (interesting history, but not what we wanted). Camel and camp was really good. In the morning we were woken at 5 and told we had to leave to get the bus, so basically the promised sunrise and sand boarding weren't possible. Todra Gorge and the hotel were amazing and worth a visit. Final day on the bus were uneventful, but left a sour taste after having to pay for them ourselves. Overall a good few days, but not entirely what we were promised. If you can, organise it yourself using buses or grand taxis over a few days, or if you can afford it, there are plenty of online tours which are probably better, at a price.

Booked 2 nights in advance via Booking.com otherwise would have only stayed one night. Cold dark room dirty shared bathroom and unfriendly and ' hassly ' staff. One guy nasty and dismissive of our independent plans . ( no doubt because he could not sell us a tour or similar) . We have stayed in cheaper warmer and cleaner places in Morocco. I think the friendly staff tag applies to people who want to be spoonfed an itinary. Other places in Morocco ' get it' when we say we prefer to do our own thing! Great location and easy to find. We avoided the downstairs area which looked nice due to one particular guy. I would like to tell him that Figuig was wonderful as a riposte to his comment 'why are you going there' ?

The rooms are dirty. The bed was not clean, you could see and feel, that they did not change the bedding, which is just disgusting. I tried to clean the bathroom but it was so dirty, that i couldn't fix it. The toiletseat was over and over packed with old urin. The shower didn't got warm. The host was unfriendly and tried to sell the room for an high price. When we wanted to leave he grabbed us and didn't wanted us let go. Even though we paid less, but still more then in other places for less service. One towel was okay, the other one was just a joke. It had a huge hole in the middle. There are nice hotels in Fès.
They did not even removed old garbage from the guest before. Or the ones before...

Room Tip: There is no good room. The rooms upstairs might be a little better...
