“Amazing Riad in the heart of the Medina”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 February 2012

Charming, tranquil and romantic Riad in the middle of the Fes Medina. The room was enchanting (think Arabian nights) but with modern conveniences (free wi-fi and laundry!). Meals are by reservation only but the manager knows lots of good restaurants nearby. The bathrooms are absolutely amazing (the best we've seen in any Riad): marble floor with a bathtub. Next time we're in Fes, we're definitely staying here again.

This traditional style Dar (house with courtyard and roof terrace) is charming and comfortable with modern amenities while maintaining a traditional Moraccan style. The staff are gracious and friendly; the location is as convenient and quiet as it gets in the Medina. The rooms range from doubles to suites for 4 to 5 people. There are televisions in the rooms (although there is only one router so everyone watches the same station) but who wants to stay in there room when the throng of the Medina beckons. The furtniture is not new but the beds are comfortable. The ambiance is relaxing and (again) charming. The taxi can drop you off at the top of the street and it is a 200 - 300 meter walk down a quiet Medina alley (it felt safe and well trafficked but not too busy or loud). The door has a simple brass sign. You need to ring the bell to be admitted when you first arrive. You will get a key to this outside door with your room key. The "main gate" to the Medina and the top of the main shopping streets are a simple (you will understand the importance of simple after a few minutes in the Medina) 10 minute walk. Breakfast is served on the terrace or in the inner courtyard. Laundry services are available and directions to local restaurants (not just tourist traps) are happily given. The prices are reasonable especially for the ensuite bathroom, air conditioning; wi-fi access and location. The monor idiosyncracies (like the TV) only add to the atmosphere and homey feel of this hotel. We would happily come back here.

I just got back from morocco and this Riad was the best of all. I have been in essaouira and marrakesh but was on Fes, Dar Kenza, that i found everything. The people was always very nice and welcoming, very clean place, very confortable, with heater in every room, perfect bathroom, wifi and delicious breakfast included. Highlight moment: the internacional music exchange on youtube with the people who work there (=D). If you ever go to Fes, Dar Kenza it´s your place to stay and relax. Perfect.
