Description: Le Trou au Mur brings a breath of fresh air to the Marrakech restaurant scene. Chic, laid back, fun, relaxed, intimate and comfortable but, above all, totally serious about food. Set in a small riad in the oldest part of the medina, the décor is a unique blend of superb local craftsmanship with the best of modern European style.

We ate dinner in the restaurant which is informal but beautifully decorated. The service was really attentive and personal. We ate a starter of offal which was delicious followed by shepherds pie and a chicken and lentil dish; these were also delicious. It was impossible to leave without trying the Mahensha desert! Cocktails and wine were also excellent.
We returned for lunch and ate on the roof terrace; there are sunny and shady tables. We had pulled lamb burgers which are meshoui in a bun, they came with fries and the meal was very good.
We hope to return.

I have just read a completely absurd review by a Swiss visitor to this wonderful restaurant in the heart of Marrakech Médina. My girlfriend and I ate there a few days ago. I am happy to report that the delightful English owner has assembled a very talented local team whose dedication to serving unusual Moroccan dishes gave us the best meal of our trip. His wealth of local knowledge also ensured that we bought a fabulous rug at well below the level that we would otherwise have paid and visited a remarkable estate belonging to an artist that he recommended and which is far removed from the regular tourist circuit.

Amazing service, amazing food, amazing atmosphere. I am posting this review even before the bill, while still sitting at the table. The traditional meshui and tanghia (long cooked meat) are just melting in your mouth, and the same can be said for the chocolate fondant (best ever in my life). Pleasant note: it was my boyfriend's birthday and they brought the chocolate fondant unexpectedly with a candle and all the staff sang happy birthday. Simply an amazing experience. Thanks!

We wanted great food, great service, and an ambience that was fun but not rowdy. Le Trou au Mur delivered and then some. We had a lovely welcome drink and amuse bouche on the roof terrace followed by a five course meal with tea and pastries after. It was all good, but the fish, john dory served in a lovely light sauce with a delicious celeriac purée, and the lamb, one of the house specialities and absolutely melt in the mouth delicious were both dishes we would order à la carte. Thanks to owner, James and to all the staff who made it a perfect choice to see in 2019. The drummers were the perfect touch to add to the festivities.
