“Beautiful people with passion for their craft”

These workshops were a gave me an deeper insight to Moroccan crafts. The love and deep knowledge each of the craftsmen had for their craft was unbelievable. I learned alot from them, both practical skills and factual knowledge.
The atmosphere was very positive and the people very beautiful.

Translating was not a problem at all as I had Nadia sweet young local girl translating for me. Through my conversations with her, I also got to know more about the contemporary Moroccan culture.

As a whole the experience was great and I look forward to attending more of these workshops in the near future.

“Fun, entertaining, and educational cooking class with delicious results”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 February 2012

We had a cooking class with Bouchra and Nadia. Both ladies told us a lot about Moroccan culture and helped us make an amazing meal. The trip to the neighborhood bakery was very nice and the bread baked there delicious. We left happy and full

“Fun and Delicious!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2011

My friend and I wanted to do a one-day cooking adventure while in Marrakech. The proprietor of our Riad recommended Ateliers d'Ailleurs and what a treat it was!

We were able to arrange a full day that began with a shopping trip to a few different markets where Bouchra, our chef and instructor shows us how to select the very freshest ingredients. Whether it was fresh produce or spices from her favorite spice market vendor where she has shopped for years, we were able to observe and participate in what was going into the meal ahead.

From there we went to Bouchra's home and met a couple of her children and her grandson, and then we began to cook. We made four dishes in all, and each one a little complex, but totally manageable. The end result was a fantastic meal (and then some) and a very fun day!

Mohamed was our English translating guide. He speaks French, English, Arabic and a few Berber dialects. He was entertaining, interesting, and was able to make sure we followed Bouchra's guidance and wisdom throughout the day.

This was among my favorite days in Marrakech and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a welcoming and authentic cooking experience.

“excellent experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 April 2010

i highly recommend taking a workshop through ateliers d'ailleurs. i took a jewelry making workshop -- as we were just a group of two, we got lots of attention and help from the jeweler. he took time to answer all our questions, show us around the workshop, and demonstrate the correct techniques for simple jewelry making. we loved being able to get the chance to do hands-on work with someone so knowledgeable. booking and payment were very, very easy, too. definitely something not to be missed in marrakech!
