“Incredibly Helpful - Great English”
Reviewed December 28, 2013 for a stay in December 2013

Tom at Riad Laksiba was my first contact in Marrakech. I was searching for a room for a trip we planned rather quickly. He did not have availability but referred me to other Riads who were equally as helpful. He continued to answer my questions as I was planning a bit frantically. I can't speak to his Riad but based on his help via email to someone who wasn't even going to stay with him, I know you can expect top notch service and perfect English.

“Simply stunning!”
Reviewed December 9, 2013 for a stay in December 2013

We had a short break over Thursday to Sunday. Amazing stunning little oasis in the medina! The staff who run it are fantastic! Chilled and more helpful than your own mother! Lol... Absolutely would stay there again!

“Riad Laksiba to the rescue!”
Reviewed November 25, 2013 for a stay in November 2013

Simon saved our Marrakech trip after the riad we had booked months before dipped out on us and we and our friends who were joining us, were left in the lurch 2 days before we were supposed to be heading to the city.
We were then greeted by the wonderful Abdelhamid who looked after us perfectly for our entire weeks stay.
Rather than just leave us to find somewhere to eat when we arrived, he showed us everything we might find interesting on a map and then grabbed his coat and took us to Kasbah street (which has a terrific buzz, btw).
We loved the decor, the courtyard with the little blue tiled pool, the little birds that came and cleaned up the breakfast table after we'd finished and then roosted on the tops of the paintings to sleep it off!
The cooking lesson was great, it was a fab experience to go with Abdelhamid and shop for the ingredients, right down to choosing a live chicken, having it weighed and quickly walking away before seeing anything else and picking up the 'finished product' later!
After a day out having your senses battered by the amazing sights, sounds, smells that define Marrakech, we were always eager to open the door to the Riad and close it behind us and be in an oasis of soothing calm!
Sitting up on the roof in the cushion strewn 'Bedouin' tent with the pair of tortoises for extra company was a talking point!
Abdelhamid recommended a local Hammam a few minutes walk away and, once again, got it spot on. My first hammam, but not my last! (Note, you keep your underwear on, so bring another pair with you to change into afterwards!)

The rest of the 'team' at Riad Laksiba were also terrific - friendly, welcoming and always smiling. Breakfast was plentiful and, I presume, fairly traditional - oh, and the honey ... amazing!

We had a couple of dinners that the ladies made for us while we were there and both times all the food was superb! We have bought a couple of tajines home with us, so we will be working on recreating what we ate there!

Simon, thank you so much for coming to the rescue, for going above and beyond what was necessary to make our stay great, for calling me and talking me through what was going to happen, for arranging the VERY nice transport from and to the airport - we are very impressed indeed.
We'd love to return! :-D

“Amazing”
Reviewed November 21, 2013 for a stay in November 2013

Cool little Riad in Marrakech that is very cozy and comfortable. The owner, Simon, is a very helpful individual and his staff go completely out of their way to accommodate you. Essentially, Simon's staff wears two hats perfectly: hosts & local route planners and insider tip givers. They are all very helpful. The breakfast is amazing and the place is beautiful furnished on the inside, very comfortable and welcoming. The location is about 15-20 minutes walk from town square but the walk is nice and lively.
Really, really hard to fault the place in any way!

Will go again and recommend to anyone who comes to Marrakech!

“Warm hospitality in the Medina”
Reviewed November 14, 2013 for a stay in May 2013

We really enjoyed our stay at Riad Laksiba. From the warm hospitality of everyone there, to the calmness of sipping mint tea at the Riad, it was a great place to relax before and after exploring the frantic activity of Marrakech. In total we spent three nights at the Riad, and that’s probably enough to see many of the sights of Marrakech without getting too tired of all the hustlers. The rest of our week in Morocco we spent on a trip into the country. The guys, Abdelhamid and Mohamed, were extremely helpful in discussing every aspect of the trip with us, and arranging accommodation, driver, etc. The driver Mouhssine was fantastic, very friendly and informative as we drove through the countryside. The highlight of our trip was riding into the Merzouga desert on camelback and spending the night in a bivouac.

“Just as we had hoped, a home from home in the Medina”
Reviewed November 6, 2013 for a stay in October 2013

We explored the Medina quite extensively during our stay and the Kasbah area of the Medina, where Riad Laksiba is located seemed an oasis of calm in the otherwise hectic and busy streets, but with no loss of charm or character.

The Riad retains the beautiful traditional style and our two rooms on the ground floor were perfect and well cooled from the a/c and airy internal courtyard. The roof terrace was fantastic, great views out across the roof tops, and a couple of tortoises kept the kids amused for hours.

But what really made the stay was the warmth and kindness of Abdelhamid and Adil for whom nothing was too much trouble. They were great with the kids (13 and 10), had lots of advice and plenty of mint tea on our return to the Riad after a hot and hectic day in the souqs. Breakfasts were delicious and huge and we enjoyed the best tagine of our holiday on the second night of our stay.

We took the trip out to the desert at Zagora which was very good, but had we had more time I think we would have been better going to Mergouz. Abdelhamid suggested this but we were pushed for time but the driver that he arranged for us was very good. Zagora is a long trip but there is plenty to see along the way, but be prepared for 7+ hours driving each day.

We would stay at Laksiba again and again. Our experience of booking with Simon and staying at the Riad itself was a simple and very personable experience. We'd recommend it most highly.
