Just a wonderful place. You enter through beautiful gates and at first there seems to be nothing, but then you enter the city. The buildings are all white and connected, beautiful doors and windows, fabulous stone walkways. It's not huge and in an hour you can wonder through just about every street. There are some little stores selling snacks or drinks. One man invited us to his home (I assume to see the views of the ocean, most likely for a fee) but we did not take him up on the offer. As you walk the walkways, there are no views. Definitely go to the Cafe Mort, as the views here are wonderful and the tea is delicious! We were there on a weekday and it was not crowded. A previous reviewer stated that they don't have change and you may wait long to get it, I can definitely see this as an issue on busy days. I guess this used to be a fortress, and there are cannons still at the walls.

Great little area of the city. Quaint old (blue) houses, fantastic views of the Atlantic and the Medina.

But beware: if someone offers you to point the way, they want money in the end, and a LOT of it! An old guy, who spoke English well said - at the end of the 'tour' - that his price was EUR 22! We gave him EUR 15, but still felt cheated, as he seemed to just be helpful.

This Kasbah is in a superb position at mouth of river Bouregreg, looking across the river to Sale and out to sea with beaches to fore. There is lots to see here despite the tour groups only getting an hour. Best actually to start at top of Kasbah on what is called the Platforme du Semaphore and then walking back down through it, whereas most seem to start at bottom and walk up. Depends really as to whether you wish to spend time on beach after. From this platform, you are able to see all that surrounds and it is great for the camera. As you descend through Kasbah , many locals will try to get you to see views from their homes for a few dirhams, but would guess nothing really more special. However, what should not be missed is the Palace des Oudaias further down. This smallish building houses much of Moroccos finest gold jewellery from 600 years prior and is well guarded. Need only take 15 minutes to see but can spend much longer if the time. To the front of building are the Andalusian Gardens which are a nice place to sit in the shade, but offer little more. As you exit the gardens there is the famous balcony cafe (listed as top ten must in guides) where it is nice to sit , enjoy a mint tea and take in the views across the river. However, you must be careful here as all tour groups walked through are taken advantage of at this point. Whatever you buy , nobody will have change and many visitors will be more concerned of losing their group than getting their money. I had to wait over 20 minutes for just 10 dirhams from 20 note for my tea. Only got it then, when guy realised I would be happy to stretch out in the cafe for rest of afternoon enjoying the scenery.

The views from the very top are really impressive as you can see all Rabat beaches and the river flowing into the Atlantic Ocean.

The blue walls and tiny alley ways tucked into the fortified area are beautiful. Tea at the cafe inside is a worthwhile stop for the view/atmophere but severely overpriced
