Description: A bit of history about Le Salon Bleu and The Kasbah Neighbourhood This quaint traditional Moroccan house is situated directly in what used to be the ancient stables of the Sultan`s Palace, and for a long while it had also served as a home for visiting British diplomats. The celebrated 17th century writer Samuel Pepys was notorious for writing endlessy in his journal under the fig tree just next to the small courtyard. Francis Bacon had a painting studio on the same street and the Rolling Stones lived just a stones throw away. The Kasbah has long inspired writers and artists of the twentieth century: Matisse, Delacroix, Kerouac, Jean Genet, William Burroughs, Paul Bowles... so we`ve opened up this small salon and restaraunt so that you may drink coffee and enjoy the ocean view while resting in their proverbial ribcages. Le Salon Bleu has been highly recommended by the international press and tour guides: New York Times, Le Monde, Liberation, Le Figaro, Lonelyplanet, Guide du Routard, Guide Michelin, Elle, Marie-Claire, L'Officiel, Vogue...

Heard good things but didn't expect we'd visit three times in three days (one for appetizers, once for drinks, once for dinner).

It was one of our best casual meals in Morocco. Hummus and fish plate were favorites. Top drink was the watermelon juice.

Tip: show up about 7 pm and grab a drink. Kitchen opens at 7:30 but often outside tables are full near 7:30. Only 20 people can sit outside (12-15 top floor). Great views and wonderful sea breeze.

All the servers were incredibly kind. Mentioned like their patisseries so gave us extra (no charge) and told us place to buy (went next day at bought huge box to bring to office); also told store where they buy pillow fabric (and what price to pay).

Can't say enough good things!!

We loved the meal we had here! The food is so fresh and delicious, and so are the cocktails ;-) the view doesn't suck either! You should definitely put this place on your list for dinner at least one night while you are in Tangier!

This is my favourite watering hole with a view. You can see Spain on the other side, plus sweeping views of the Tangier corniche. Watch the ferries and fishing boats roll in and out. I have only been able to experience a drink here, since the kitchen closed mid afternoon when I was there. But the fresh juices they have all sound great. My fresh watermelon and mint juice was only 30dm and was the perfect refreshment during the heat of the afternoon. Sit right at the top and enjoy the cool sea breeze as well. Friendly and relaxed waiters are there to attend to your needs. The inside seating area is also nicely decked out, in case you want an indoor space. I've heard good things about their kitchen too, so this is definitely worth stopping by when you're exploring the kasbah and medina. The prices looked reasonable too.

This cafe is right by the Kasbah Museum. It's built into the wall and the restaurant is on several levels. You have to walk up a few flights, one being circular, to get to the roof top area. But it's well worth it - the views of the marina and city are spectacular. There is nice, comfortable seating up there. Yes, it is windy, but you are way high up and the waiters bring straw hats for anyone that wants to avoid sun on their face. The food is simple but quite good. We ordered off the set menu and had a tomato salad, selection of appetizers like hummus and olives, and a chicken dish. We also ordered a selection of the juices. It's really a perfect place to have lunch or a snack in Tangier and it's away from the crowds. The waiters were very responsive though it got crowded while we are there. They have a tough job running up and down those steps. I highly recommend this place if you are in the Kasbah.

A little blue place on the top of Medina near Kasbah with a stunning marina and sea view. The meal was very delicious, we had Chicken Tajine (maybe the best in Morocco so far) and John Dory fish plate. Total lunch price with drinks and coffee for two 300 MAD.
