Very close to the Falls, so much so that you can hear the Falls and see the mist. Very comfortable rooms and clean. Staff was wonderful. Easy walking to the Falls, to the bank to exchange and to the souvenir shops. While eating breakfast one morning, two tables over the Lady was at the Buffet and the gentleman got up to get something. Within seconds, a monkey had jumped down from the roof, to the tree, to the table. He grabbed the rolls and ran off, with the staff yelling and running after him! We were laughing and amazed. The gentleman was in shock when he realized what happened.

Room Tip: Second floor is best for views

We recently stayed at the lodge for two nights while enjoying the sites in Victoria Falls. We would heartily recommend the hotel with its comfortable rooms, excellent menu, delicious breakfasts and friendly staff.

I not praise the service enough, received from the staff of this hotel. They were nothing short of excellent. Friendly and always on hand to help.
You are able to view the mist of the falls while having breakfast outside.
Other hotels and restaurants are in walking distance. So are the falls.
In the evenings you should be careful of the animals, the staff will advice you and you may need an escort between hotels and restaurants.
Tipping is optional and they are very thankful when you tip.

Room Tip: It is very convenient to charge activities to your hotel room, even ones booked outside of the hotel...

It was a bit of bit of business combined with pleasure - but the pleasure made it feel like it was more than worth it. Lucky me! The staff were great! I was there over my birthday - and the chef made me a chocolate cake... which we later agreed to share with an orphanage or an old age institution in the town, because I could only justify indulging in a couple of slices! That kind of spirit is beautiful - and true hospitality. We also ended up being bumped off our flight back to Johannesburg because it was so hot (yowzer hot!) and the flight was too full, so the airline limited the number of passengers. I was secretly delighted that we could be treated to another night and the hotel was more than accommodating. Zimbabwe rocks - and the Vic Falls especially. Thank you to everyone at Ilala Lodge who made my stay an unforgettable birthday.

l had the please of staying at this lodge in Victoria Falls over the festive period of 2011. With many options to choose from namely the Kingdom Hotel, Victoria Falls Hotel and Victoria Falls Safari Lodge l am happy to have chosen this lodge/hotel. Having arrived in Victoria Falls with no reservation for a hotel this was a risk which l would not repeat. With a rate of US$100/person including breakfast l was simply taken away with the service and amenities on offer. Situated across from the Kingdom and Victoria Falls Hotel, Ilala lodge stands just as tall as these hotels in terms of service delivery. From check in the gentleman who checked us in was pleasant and he made us feel at home. Check in was quick and easy and we were on our way to our room in no time. Walking past the restaurant and bar overlooking the pool it was certainly an aesthetic atmosphere present. The room was spacious with a double bed, ensuite bath and shower and with a tv offering a selection of channels. We had a french door leading out to our private balcony which was facing the direction of the victoria falls and could hear the falls rumbling as they reached the bottom. We did not have dinner at the hotel, however, it has been recognised as one of the best hotel restaurants in town, l will have to make my judgement on my next trip. Before long we were out cold and the bed was so comfortable that getting out of it was a struggle. There was no noise disruption at all. The next morning we had breakfast at the restaurant at if l could l would have eaten everything cause it looked so good. The staff was always friendly and seemed to anticipate all our needs. l opted for the french toast which were simply delicious, my partner went for the eggs benedicts and if only l could explain how good they were but you would be better off trying them for yourself. Check out is at 11am and we were shortly on our way. Check out was flawless and l can guaranteed that llala will be seeing more of me. Keep up the good work.

Room Tip: We were given Room 27 which l think any room along these numbers is good

The room was CLEAN and beautiful. Views spectacular. Breakfast amazing. Falls within walking distance. Walk across road to Victoria Falls Hotel and see the Falls! People very kind (although can get a little pushy with their wares at times). Hotel provides all kinds of services and the whole experience was quite memorable

The Ilala lodge is a very nice hotel, with a beautiful tree in the middle of it and from the terrace you can see a bit of the falls. Its a 10 min walk to the falls and a 2 min walk to the Victoria Hotel. Rooms are ok, wish we could use the terrace a bit more but they told us to keep it closed cus of the monkeys and animals. I have to say the beds were pretty comfortable and the place was overall ok but I feel it was over priced for what it was. What really disappointed me was the food. We had dinner there 2 nights and it was not recommended at all. Overpriced and pretty horrible. The management was pretty helpful and breakfast was ok. The hotel was ok but felt it should have been more special, and they should spend more time on details to make it worth the money you pay!
