This is good place to have oriental food. Service is quite good. Enjoyed my lunch at this place. I heard steak is also famous at this restaurant.

The food's pretty good, and sitting out on the terrace you can watch the world go by on the main square in downton Djibouti city. The price is ok, reasonalble for this type of restaurant. Certainly worth going to.

food is a mix of European and Asian food.
Service is very friendly and professional. The terrace is nice but not in summer time due to the high temperatures. Airco is inside

I am currently on my 5th visit to Djibouti and the Chaumiere has become a critical part of each stay. I last reported on this place in January 2017 when I had only lunched here. This is now my default venue for the evening. Yes of course there are other restaurants but, of the ones I have tried, they are either surprisingly expensive, lacking in atmosphere, do not serve alcohol or serve poor food. The Chaumeire has a cosy bar and a restaurant with a choice of high tables or benches and banquettes - I tend to eat at the bar.

The food is really good. Try the grilled fish with sauce diable, or the sizzling stir fry with a choice of fishes and meats, a choice of vegetables and a choice of sauce. Or try the Tom Yum soup. There are also burgers, steaks, duck, prawns all cooked to a high standard with a slant towards the orient - the manager is half Chinese. On top of that the bar has a good choice of drinks including French red wine and South African white. It's not especially cheap (main courses £8 - £20) and wine is c£5 for a large glass but you get what you pay for.

Finally great staff, good service and a friendly manager all working in a warm and atmospheric environment. And don't forget the veranda if you want to sit outside.

This place has a family pub feeling about it, I was solo but didn't feel alone. The food was great, I had grilled fish with vegetables which was quite filing. The staff are friendly and quick on their feet; speak English too so I didn't need to pull out a phrase book. Prices are about 4000 for a drink and main dish...so a bit pricey but understandable for this city
