lovely colonial plantation house which gives insight of the history of Mauritius- can walk around and let your imagination run wild, beautiful setting and gardens- a must to visit. The house does need some upkeep though.

This old sugar plantation house is definitely worth a visit. You are free to walk around the house and imagine what it would be like for the sugar plantation owners who lived here. The best part for me was walking around the beautiful gardens and walking down to the waterfalls. There are three waterfalls that are a short walk from the house and one that is 10 min walk (Bassin Diablo - or something like that). I would recommend visiting all of them and especially the one furthest away, as is the most beautiful. When we visited Jan '16 it was around £6 each to visit.

There is a special something about this place. The house itself is beautiful, in a very verdant garden setting. It is a bit run down but none the worse for that. I thought that the garden was the highlight, with one or two spectacular plants, and I shortish walk to a very lovely waterfall. Sadly a couple of inconsiderate visitors had left their detritus behind........so inconsiderate. Overall very much worth a visit.

By visiting Eureka mansion, I have not learned much about Mauritius colonial past as I hoped. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it a lot because of the very beautiful nature. The landscape is magnificent and the photos do not convey all this beauty. There are also small waterfalls down the path from the house.
