I was told to see the 108 stupas in dochula.its a nice drive from thimpu which can further go till royal Manas national park.its an open space which overlooks the mountain range.on a clear sunny day you can see the high snow covered mountains which are mostly above 6500m.the stupas was built during extremist conflict for peace.many eating joints around this.

We were fortunate to break our journey on a sunny clear day and had amazing views of sunny snow clad Himalayan mountain peaks way off in the distance.
The history of the 108 stupas is well worth looking into.
In contrast our return trip was overcast, chilly with no view at all. Hope you get a clear day.

supposedly amazing place fro views of the mountain ranges, but weather decides what you get to view, still the presence in the place creates a feeling of vastness of nature. The effort put in to maintain these spiritual monuments needs to be applauded. Accessibility by local transport modes needs to be checked, @25 km from thimpu

We crossed this mountain pass on my way from Thimphu to Punakha. It was overcast that day so we did not see the Himalayan range. However, this stop was beautiful and surreal. There were over 100 stupas. We were provided a second chance to view the Himalayan range on our way back from Punakha. It was clear that day and it provided many photographic opportunities. This place also has a cafeteria, where we had tea and snacks.
