To be "Classy" a property needn't be an imposing edifice with all manner of frills and trappings. And so it is for Novotel Fenix Silom .. a truly exceptional hotel .. both for service and comfort.
As always I had scoured the internet to find a suitable hotel not too far from my son's alma mater .. Webster University, Bangkok campus at Sathorn ..
Soon I was viewing the Accor family of hotels. These are truly in a class of their own and the Novotel brand is quite high class. Yet, I was tentative about choosing this particular hotel. But what a pleasant surprise !!
Novotel Fenix Silom ..
Conveniently located on the main thoroughfare this lovely hotel really "grows" on one.
Not so much as an exuberant entity but more as a hugely friendly , affectionate and comfortable surrounding. I had booked this hotel on 3 separate occasions in June 2018 and stayed for a total of 11 days .. each time feeling more at home..
When we first arrived at the hotel, Silom area was under a rare power outage. However, check-in was quick, seamless and professional. Electricity was also restored within minutes of our arrival and we were whisked to our room.
We were allotted room 2005 .. compact, neat and comfortable. A big double bed sprawled near a large window through which one can have a good view of the city .. and indeed of the river yonder, with boats plying..
The bed is really comfy, easily lulls one to sleep. The bathroom is clean and tidy. The hot / cold water being just right. Free good quality toiletries. The air conditioning worked perfectly.
A work desk, chair, settee /sofa, built in wardrobe and an in-room safe completed the room furnishing. There, of course, one also has the
Coffee / Tea maker with supplies, a small freeze and a well stocked mini bar ..
A large flat screen TV , iPad dock and yes, not to forget "Handy" .. a mobile phone, easily customized and dedicated to help navigate the city .. we had first discovered Handy a couple of years ago at the Quincy in Singapore .. and here we were at Novotel Silom as well ..
The hotel restaurant offers limited but extremely palatable food which we enjoyed on more than a few occasions.. The breakfast spread is large, varied and healthy. Plenty of choice .. both western and local .. with a choice of fruits, juices and salad as well ..
Communication is easy with both MRT and BTS access or a taxi or Grab ..
There is plenty to do around.
Numerous pubs / bars , restaurants and nightclubs.
In fact the iconic Maggie Choo is right next door !!
The Patpong market is nearby as are many other malls and shops .. and as the evening unfolds, street vendors appear with a huge array of goods..
Probably the biggest asset of this hotel is its STAFF .. a team of highly trained , courteous , extremely helpful professionals whose customer care is unique and of the highest standard..
Very strongly recommended !!

Stayed here for a few nights whilst en route to Cambodia. Amazingly comfortable and super size bed, perfect for getting over jetlag and a very smooth check. Despite arriving a few hours early I was given a room almost immediately. Not far from Surasak BTS so easy to find and lots of nice restaurants, bars and shops nearby. A short walk to Lumphini Park for some peace and quiet or a quick taxi ride to the Grand Palace ETC.
