Visited Nahm for lunch in Apr. We ordered 2 set lunch which costs 1600 bath per person. We requested for serving the salad first then soup and lastly the main, however, the staff said the soup, salad and the main have to be served together since it was Thai-styled! The food and soup were a bit salty to us and it was definitely not a fine dining! We would say the food was average but it was quite unreasonable at the charges!

A friend and I decided to try Nahm mainly because of it’s reputation as one of the top ten in Asia. We were advised smart casual, but noted that this was certainly not enforced.
We decided to have the set menu as we were not too familiar with Thai food (outside of the usual dishes available at home). All of the dishes from each course (ie. Canapés, mains and dessert) came at the same time which suited us fine. The flavours were amazing, and everything was cooked very well.
I normally prefer not to have too much chili in my food and the staff were excellent in pointing out which dishes were not too hot.
Obviously there are multiple places in Bangkok to get excellent Thai food, but Nahm offers a high end Thai dishes, excellent western style ambience and very knowledgeable and attentive wait staff.

As a local Thai, I have to say that this non-Thai cook does his job quite good though not excellent. Of course, not all dishes were up to their authenticity but at least they did reflect Thai culture. The best we had during the meal were Ma Hor and Crab Wafers. They tasted well balance as if they came from those top Thai restaurants in Thailand. Ma Hor was not overly sweetened. Saltiness, nuttiness, and sweetness were just right. In my humble view, it was paired with other seasonal fruits, such as marian plum for now, rather than simple pineapple would be more interesting since this is high-end restaurant. For crab wafer, think of the usual Thai crispy rice cracker with filling. In this case, it was crab instead of pork. Nice one.

Pros: Very good service team, from senior to junior. Great training. Love the way they were friendly, helpful, and with good attitude. Ingredients are of excellent quality.

Cons: Some dishes were missing here and there, and might not represent what it should be. Using ingredients which did not bring up its uniqueness. Often expensive ingredients have its own distinct flavour and might not go well with some kind of dishes in my view.

Anyway, Nahm is about experience, especially for those non-Thai who have not experienced many Thai dishes and are not sure where to go for. Of course, it is surely expensive in which you have to bear in mind.

Lastly, remember that the joy of Thai food is all about sharing and savouring dishes with rice. Not just having your own bowl of soup.

We booked a visit to Nahm restaurant during our Bangkok trip. It was worth it.

Service. We got delayed arriving at the restaurant. One simple phone call and they adjusted our arrival time to accommodate. Really great service.

Food. We have been living in Asia for over 5 years now and this has been by far the best culinary experience. Great combinations of food infused into the Thai kitchen. Loved it. Try the steamed red curry of scallops as a starter and the preserved shrimp and crab as main. Were our stars of the evening.

Thanks for having us.

Thank Paul V

The Nahm is located at the base of the Metropolitan Hotel. It’s decorated in soft, warm wooden tones and is quite pleasurable to sit in. We could only get a late seating as we reserved at the very last minute, so keep this in mind. It really is worthwhile eating there and everything we had was delicious.
