“AAAAAMAZING!!!”
Reviewed 6 March 2012

Love love love this place. We stayed here for x2 nights whilst on our honeymoon last week and wow is all I can say. We chose the airport pickup service so we were greeted by a lovely man at the airport and driven in a BMW to the airport, he even offered an IPAD for our use! The hotel was amazing, dont get me started on breakfast...Best breakkie in any hotel Ive EVER been to and Ive travelled a lot. I honestly cant recommend the hansar more, its in a great location but down a quiet street 2 secs walk to the skytrain and the rooms.....WOW!!!

Room Tip: We went for the standard studio... it was no standard studio the rooms are huge, massive king bed an...

Opened in 2010, as good as new!
By Bangkok 5 star standards, the Interior, ammenities, food standards are as it should be - very good. By service standards wise, this is just another one of them. Of course that still means it's good since the Thai hospitality industry is afterall mainstay for GDP. So that leaves very little to fault Thai hotel establishments.

What really sets a good Bangkok hotel from the other is its ability to withstand customer expectations, requests and personalized service. Guest has a problem, help solve it - all part of the customer experience. Unfortunately for them, customer quotient, professional etiquette, front desk communication and the extent of going the extra mile for the personal touch just fell short as compared to other global brand rivals. On this trip, I stayed in the boutique hotels (my preference), Metropolitan Hotel followed by the Hansar Hotel, one very stark difference between the 2 hotels was experienced - Sincerity.

First line of email contact - Marketing and Sales
Mark Shrives should be commended for answering emails in a smart concise manner. That eased the reservations.

Second line of (email) contact - Reservations Sales
Requested for rose petals in hot bath on return to room after dinner. Took me 3 emails to complete the email communication to get the request.

Front Desk - check in and check out staff need to be better trained to handle guest queries, requests, especially in English language. Generally, don't ask them for too many things or they will visibly show displeasure or pass judgmental looks as if to say it's too much extra work for them. On check-out, I needed a split itemized bill which was faced with some displeasure from the front desk girl tending to me oblivious of my urgency to catch the plane, delaying my waiting limousine service to airport by half hour.

Fitness centre/Swimming pool staff
Generally attentive, genuinely concerned and good attitude in handling guests.

Eve Restaurant Breakfast Staff
Manager on duty on 4 March and all wait staff were also turnkey efficient and great service.

Business Centre
Free print-outs, just send the file to their allocated email & they will print it for you.

Housekeeping
Clean! Refilled the free mini-bar. But did not turn up for turndown service on 2nd night.

Limousine service
At 1900thb, the friendly driver got us to the airport in 40 minutes. Made up for front desk delay but just only made it to the plane on time when majority of passengers were all seated.

I'm sure all guests truly love love love the complimentary mini bar gesture, I sure did.

In general, guests are willing to pay a premium if the value is reflected not only in the inanimate objects that set the ambience, nor is it only in the efficiency and work scope knowledge, but the human element/ people factor creates a far more superior value than can be measured. In this sense, I would say that the less centrally located inexpensive Metropolitan Hotel has won in this area. Giving Hansar a Good to Very Good service rating versus Metropolitan's 'Excellent'.

Having said that, if you really are big on personal service in the same central address, I'd recommend st.Regis (pretty new) with butler service and impeccable luxury ambience, but go read up on other tripadvisor reviews for which butlers are good and put in a request.

Word of advise to hotel operators - You can't expect the world given a language barrier by guests all over the world in most request instances, but you sure can at least try.
Separately - Whatever happened to a hotel walkabout with customers to show facilities these days?

Room Tip: Ask for Bangkok sports club facing.

We stayed on our way to Myanmar and were to stay at another for the sake of trying another hotel on the way back. Our stay was so pleasant we booked for our return and cancelled the other hotel. What a wonderful experience. Fantastic helpful and friendly staff, very welcoming and great service. Good value for money. Enormous amount of space in both the rooms we had. We tried the rail system to get around and that was almost right outside an easy way to beat the peak hour traffic. The hotel was close to really good shopping.Cannot say enough about this hotel and will certainly stay there on any return trips. That is if they don't become so popular that I can't get a room.

Have previously only stayed on the river in Bangkok, the Hansar is in more of a residental area, but still next to the skytrain and easy enough to get around the city from. I liked the location, is quiet enough to take a step back from the often madness of Bangkok. For cabs direct them to the 4 seasons next door while the place is still fairly new. Rooms, and in fact the hotel are very well designed and beds very comfortable. Good gym and business facilities if needed and solid buffet breakfast.

Third stay in Bangkok and first in the Hansar. Very pleased with every aspect of the hotel from the greeting to the little breakfast box given to us on departure. Like other reviewers, our taxi driver did not know where it was and took us to Centrepoint (this was around the corner). After having lost our luggage it was great to receive a warm welcome and settle into a lovely urban suite. One of the best bathrooms we have ever experienced in all our travels! Plenty of room throughout the suite. Happy hour downstairs with outside seating (careful of the bugs) and entertainment on some nights. Very good breakfasts. No complaints really. Enjoyed our stay and would return.

This is by far the best hotel I have been in to date (I have been in 28 countries, mainly staying at 5-star properties.) The service, location, breakfast, rooms are outstanding. I have very high standards for 5-star hotels, and the Hansar met and beat them all. I cannot imagine staying any where else while in Bangkok. It is a bit pricey, but it is worth the money.

Room Tip: Most of the rooms are suites, so you would not get a bad room. We had our room upgraded to a 18th f...
