“great hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 April 2012

It is the first time I stayed at the hansar as we usually stay in the Landmark. i really liked this hotel . it is tucked away down a small soi but is very near central world shopping centre and other malls. the room is fantastic - really large - ours was about 59 Sq m so plenty of room and a lovely bathroom , sink , large frdge etc.

we ate in teh french reatuarant and the food was excellent as was breakfast and the service in all areas of the hotel was fantastic . i really enjoyed staying at the Hansar and will definitely return ! highly recommended

Room Tip: go for a junior suite

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 April 2012

Preface:
we were looking for a quiet, great hotel in bangkok in april 2012. we had been in downtown bangkok a couple of times in the recent decades - else only connecting at the airport - and from then knew that bangkok is a very bustling city, with traffic being horrific.
thus other luxury hotels along busy streets, or across the river, were no option for us, even when they are ****** ;-) .
having enjoyed the HANSAR and their concept already on koh samui various times, we booked 3 nights in the HANSAR in bangkok, knowing about the great concept we can trust, and its location – in a quiet side street, just around the corner to all of the action – a hotel, that is QUIET, AND a minute away from a skytrain station – in our opinion an ABSOLUTE must, when considering booking a hotel in bangkok not only when there for sight-seeing.
Our stay:
when on a private tour in rural NW Thailand in 2011 we were walking along luscious rice fields when the farmer invited us to see his house. traditional houses in rural thailand are built on poles, thus entering the house is not straight in, but up a staircase – then you enter the very private part of the house, that is not open to everybody.
entering the HANSAR in bangkok – walking up the stairs – lets you have that same feeling, you are not entering one of those huge lobbies, with extended front-desks, just being one of many of guests in there at that time, but you enter a unique setting, a very ‘private’ setting within which you are nicely welcomed by great staff and checked in [and YES, there are lifts to get you up there, if you don’t want to walk the stairs ;-) ].
we arrived in the morning, and our room was ready at hand, an edge suite we were given, as the type we had booked, the hotel was pretty full, wasn’t ready yet – which, with that great option offered, didn’t really make us feel unhappy at all ;-).
details about rooms/amenities/spa have been given in many a comments, and HANSAR’s homepage has lots of impressive fotos up there, so we just want to say, yes, that is a great setting and concept.
what we like most about the ‘HANSAR’ concept, besides great quality, is the personal touch; the staff make you feel like at home, like visiting a friend, though you might be there the first time. everybody tries to give their best, even if their english were not fluent in an academic way - but for sure is well above average of asian ***** hotels - but you get what you want all of the time, and that ready at hand – my thai is much worse ;-)
we got great sight-seeing tips, that helped us a lot enjoying bangkok on the first day on our own. for the other two days we had booked a private tour guide, great service we got.
we had various meals in the HANSAR, in the BOCA. We liked the menu in the BOCA, had some delicious thai food, a helpful staff, and had some epicurean experiences – the BOCA you should try; after a great meal enjoying a nice evening out on the patio of the bar of the HANSAR, the VUE, allows a cozy end of a probably very exhausting sightseeing day, in a very quiet setting, and in fresh air.
Conclusion:
being tourists we wanted:
a great hotel, that is centrally located, that is within shortest walking distance to a skytrain station, AND a quiet one, in a side street.
And we got it, being added a very personal touch, a great staff, and a luxury hotel – the HANSAR.

Brilliant boutique hotel. Rooms unbelievable for this price. Best is pool deck where we got more all day sun for three days than we did in hua hon where the sun disappeared early - none of that here - the deck catches the sun all day long. Breakfast great and bar chilled ( only slight gripe was having to explain the concept of happy hours advertised - but no biggie and quickly fixed. Those who say not 5 star are true 1% era who live in a world if company bought loyalty schemes. Good location and take taxis - most we paid to go anywhere was 150 baht - where I live the meter starts at this.
Hope you enjoy it

We stayed 2 nights in the hotel to cap off a 2 week holiday around Thailand.

STAFF: AWESOME! Door staff attentive, check in very swift and friendly. We booked an Edge but were upgraded to a massive Vertigo Suite! My partner proposed to me and the staff were so great, when we went out shopping they came in and put rose petals in the bath, and left a bottle of wine, a bunch of roses and a congratulations card on the table so we walked in and I saw it first thing. It was really lovely. And they didn't charge for it - these things make a big difference.

ROOM: The Vertigo Suite is incredible - it's massive! There is a separate lounge room with a TV and a desk, a huge bed that is ridiculously comfortable. THe bathroom is excellent - a massive shower, enormous bath - all marble and smooth and clean. We enjoyed the use of the bath and shower. The bed is too comfortable for words.

FOOD: We only ate the breakfast. The buffet is small - I was expecting larger to be honest. What was there was ok. Perhaps as it's a 'boutique' hotel the size of the buffet is smaller than the bigger hotels. It's not like I am a buffett freak, but I do enjoy them when I travel overseas and stay in a hotel. I ordered the eggs benedict and there was an overt taste of vinegar in the dish.

LOCATION: Super cental - easy walk to Central, Siam, Paragon etc - plus the BTS is a 2 min walk away.

It's great having a free mini bar too!

Excellent hotel with great service. This hotel is really stylish, well located and has all you need to relax in Bangkok. We stayed for 2 nights in April 2012 and can only recommend this hotel to others.

We arrived late one evening to stay a couple days en route to Phuket. The hotel was beautiful. The staff was extremely helpful and polite. The included breakfast was the best we had in Asia. The minibar is included, though sparse. The pool is refreshing and has a great view of the city. The gym is modern and well equipped. We had a city view suite and the bed was large and comfy. The shower was amazing (but the floors are slippery when wet, so beware). The location is close enough to the action, yet far enough removed from the tourist areas to feel relaxing (adjacent to the Four Seasons and the St. Regis). We hired a cab driver (who goes by the name Potato, so you'll remember him) for a whole day. We spent the entire day being driven the the Grand Palace, various temples, local spots for lunch, shopping, frequent stops for drinks, and ultimately the Soy Patpong area for a crazy night of cocktails, dancing and countless offers of fake designer goods, lady boys and ping pong shows. All this, while he and his air conditioned car waited for us, for about $30 US (which included a generous tip). We heard legend of how the Thai mafia runs the Patpong district, so it was likely no coincidence that a tuk tuk tried to charge us $100 US for a 5 minute ride to our hotel. Guess I can't blame him for trying, but the final score ended up being 1 for us, 0 for the tuk tuk driver.

Keep in mind that the drivers all try to rope you into canal and other tours where they get a cut of your entry fee. Make your own agenda and tell your driver what you want to do and you'll be fine without feeling railroaded into some nonsense fish farm tour that cost you an arm and a leg. Once we insisted, Potato was on the same page.
